"In her second term, Chow needs to get better at linking property taxes to visible service improvements. And she needs to make it clear how a progressive Toronto can deal with the real issues Bradford raised over the course of the election." Good commentary as always by @graphicmatt.com

thestar.comMatt Elliott: Olivia Chow wins — but with serious warning signs for Toronto’s progressive movementA tighter-than-expected re-election leaves the mayor facing questions about passive leadership, thin plans and an unclear second-term agenda.

Okay so his first name is Bradford, he was named after his mother's last name, but then later in life he decided to take his mother's last name, making his full name Bradford Bradford. Lots to make fun of about ol' Brad but unfortunately his name is not one of them

I had pretty much this exact conversation with a coworker today and I'm sorry to say I was not able to convince him to vote

"I'm not informed about the issues." Talk to people you trust. “The polls say...” Polls don't matter. "The candidates are all the same." No, they're not. “It doesn’t matter who wins." It matters very much to someone you care about. Polls are open until 8 pm. Please vote wisely, Toronto. #TOPoli

Good morning, Toronto! Polls are open and it's a lovely day. Go Vote! You can find your polling location and lists of acceptable ID using the city's MyVote website: myvote.toronto.ca #TOPoli #ONPoli

I'm biking down this hill with my kid in the back and a truck slows down beside me. Driver leans over and says, "Are you insane? You should be riding on the sidewalk!" I say, "That's illegal. Did you know that?" Wild idea, should drivers have to know the rules in order to drive?

Believe it or not this is the least terrible route of all the possible routes to music lessons 🙃

Unserious person who doesn't understand cycling as transportation

"Look, nobody rides more bikes than I do. I rode 10,000 kilometres last year," brags Bradford. He says he's "the only candidate that has a plan to build new cycling infrastructure — we're just going to do it in our ravine network."

Bradford says the Bloor West data suggest the city "allocated 50% of the road space for half a percentage of road users. And that doesn't work." (By this logic, there are several streets downtown where pedestrians should get MUCH wider sidewalks)

Isn’t it enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you also trample down the rest? Isn’t it enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet? That's from the Bible, bitches

This election will be decided by turnout. The richest, greediest, most selfish cranks in this city will definitely vote, so it's up to us to make sure we get a government that actually represents the people.

Talk to your friends and family about voting! Not everyone is as tuned in as all you nerds and a simple "hey how are you feeling about the election on Monday" can go a long way. Maybe they forgot when it was, or they're not sure if they're eligible, or don't know where to get candidate info. #TOpoli

Honestly... If he takes this I think I'm just done. It's another victory for the selfish. I'm so tired.

A new poll by Liaison Strategies released Wednesday suggests that Bradford is two percentage points ahead of Chow among decided and leaning voters.

Toronto takes a lot of heat for being a dull and reluctant city that would rather cater to its worst impulses than take even the most tentative step towards a better city. And I think a vote for Bradford is a vote to embrace the worst and frankly most embarrassing stereotypes of our town. #topoli

We offered to help them remove it properly & salvage it. They refused the help. We were internationally recognized for this infra. I've talked to dozens of cities around the world who wanted to learn how to do it from us. And these f'ers are just paying their buddies to rip it out. I'm irate.

Is it starting to dawn on the people of Ontario that feeding huge wads of cash into the rusty old Make Cyclists’ Lives Worse Machine doesn’t make anyone else’s life better?

NEW ABACUS POLL: Doug Ford's government continues to face more disapproval than approval. Approve: 36% Disapprove: 43% Neither: 18% Government approval is unchanged since August, but disapproval is up 2 points. abacusdata.ca/ford-pcs-sl...

My sourdough starter sat untouched in the fridge all summer, turned black, and smelled like death. I scraped off the black, salvaged some from the bottom, and fed it for a few days, and look at my beautiful yeastie boys now! We're so back!

We took the scenic route home and once we got down into the valley 6-year-old heaved a big sigh from the back of the bike and said, "Ahhhhh. nature."

Another parent saw us arrive by bike and said, "Oh! Of course! A thin hat under the helmet and you can keep biking when it's cold! We always stop in the winter but some days it's just so beautiful and I wish we could bike!" Sometimes you just need to see someone do it to realize it's possible.
