First 25 movies that came to mind when thinking about movies I love. Probably forgot some important ones.

Cake屋さん@cakeshopowner.bsky.social

similarly this isn't a definite 25 top movies, though they are 25 o my favs, but hoping to offer a decent breadth of Classics

Replaying old kirby games with my kid and man, it's insane what we lost between the SNES and N64 generations in terms of art style. Like... we got set back whole decades by the transition to 3D.

Mina the Hollower :B: | 4.5/5 stars Cool mashup of old school Zelda/Modern Souls. I was kinda disappointed by Shovel Knight. Mina feels more like classic NES difficulty while avoiding NES bs (mostly). Didn't like the story, but the world is neat. Enjoyed the trinkets and burrowing mechanic

Monster Train :B: | 4/5 stars Sort of playing as research since it's in a similar space to the game I'm making. Devastated to discover they already created some mechanics I thought I invented, hah. Pretty fun deckbuilder, maybe doesn't quite hold up to Slay the Spire, but scratches a similar itch.

Haven't posted in a bit, but still working away on my tower defense game. Since last time I've decided to turn it into a deckbuilder. Every indie game yearns to evolve into Slay the Spire. Resistance is futile. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

There was a Thai/Laotian restaurant near me called Mekong Cafe. It had the best massaman curry I've ever had, by far. Dark red curry, strong peanut taste. The lady managing it was always kinda rude, but it was worth putting up with because the food was so good. They closed during covid. :(

This post is unavailable.

Worked on a unique event-only unit this week. Starts as a defenseless fawn, but if you keep it alive for 2 waves it evolves into an Ancient Hart, with a magic ring. If enemies die in it, you regen MP, allowing you to fire off lots of spells. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

What I want for Dhalsim in every street fighter patch: - a 6 frame medium so I can actually punish drive rev - a combo from jabs that doesn't burn all my meter What I get every patch: - Flashy new setups and combos that don't really change any matchups but do look cool in clips

Worked on content this week including upgrades. Like this Shaman - can't attack directly, but summons purple fog to inflict Hex: enemies take 1.5x damage. At Level 3, spiders spawn from the hexed enemies to help clog up lanes and manage swarms. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Thought The Odyssey was pretty good. A bit of a gloomy and grim interpretation of the story for my tastes but not bad. Really though I'm just happy we're getting blockbuster popcorn movies again that have nothing to do with superheroes.

Working on my tower defense roguelike, Cinder Rift. This week worked on some specialization upgrades you can choose as you level up units, here's a few examples (vfx still work in progress). #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Been playing around with the idea of a worker placement sub-game between waves of the tower defense roguelike game I'm working on. So you clear a wave, then go to a Bazaar where you spend workers on upgrades, economy, new towers, relics, etc. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

I have very distinct memories of having to demo Halo 4 for Don Mattrick and realizing that these people just live on different planes of reality I was showing off my mission and when the Mantis showed up with its new cool intro vignette he raised his hand and said to the group -

Mostly been doing level design and balancing for my tower defense recently, but spreadsheets don't make an exciting screenshot, so here's some spawn animations I worked on for the 3 factions you can build. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Slay the Spire 2 :B: | 5/5 stars Early access, so take star rating with a grain of salt. But so far this seems very fun. Not crazy different from the first game, but it's nice to have new enemies to fight, new events, new characters. So far Necrobinder is my fave!

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book :B: | 3/5 stars It's cute, but I'm confused who these yoshi games are for. My 5-year-old enjoys deeper games than this like Astro Bot, Mario Odyssey. But he can't play this because of all the reading. For adults, prob skip unless yoshi vibes alone are enough for you.

Kinda lackluster State of Play for me. Outside shot I'll try Onimusha or Phantom Blade, but the rest? eh. Lot of games that look well made, but with genres or themes I don't care about.

Trying to focus on the one I'm making, but kinda want to try horror next. Some ideas: - Resident Evil x LttP, top down exploring a RE mansion, getting items, solving puzzles - First person horror where you work as a movie projectionist - One where you play a ghost scaring people out of your house

repost with wishlist of 4 games you want to MAKE! - parappa the rapper x bloodtypers - troll game a lá mario maker 2 troll levels with Those Games themeing - survival game where skills in skill tree rust over time - horror game where the jumpscare is relapsing back to addiction

Been working on building new units for my tower defense Cinder Rift this week. My favorite is this cavalier. Going for a different style of AOE damage that's good on long path segments and against dense groups. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Tried making a cool title screen+class selection screen this week. I like how they look but not sure if all the vfx clash with the base game's simpler style too much. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Godot's particle system is really cool! Spent some time this week making a burrowing enemy in my tower defense. What do you think, does the animation read like dirt flying around? #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

2 months in working on a tower defense roguelike. What I should have done this week: fleshed out core gameplay loop, made more maps. What I actually did: worked on VFX for this Smite spell, turned on infinite MP, zapped a lot of goblins. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Working on a tower defense roguelike! This week worked on a goblin boss (just a 2x goblin sprite while my wife works on the real sprite). Pretty happy with how the toss goblins attack looks, still working on the shout that buffs his minions. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Cleared A10 in Slay the Spire 2 with all character. My stats: Ironclad: 11 wins, 8 losses Silent: 11 wins, 7 losses Regent: 11 wins, 34 losses Necrobinder: 11 wins, 39 losses Defect: 11 wins, 17 losses I think Regent is really fun, he's got some crazy builds. Necro is ok, feels kinda linear?

Been brainstorming titles for my game this week. My current front runner is "Cinder Rift: A Tower Defense Roguelike". Thoughts? Worked on enemy/tower balance and level design. This week I made some armored goblins and a jerk who heals bad guys. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Saw Super Mario Movie 2. Don't really get how they can find such talented animators, A-list celeb voice actors, but can't afford a basically competent writer? I ain't asking for the moon, I'd be happy with the level of writing in the sonic movies.

Weekly update on my Tower Defense Roguelike. This week I added an energy system for purchasing towers and upgrades. Also created a new rally point system for moving your melee defenders around so you can position them however you like. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Made some progress on my Tower Defense Roguelike. This week I worked on some new tower types. Got a floating mage who can toss around fireballs, a druid who summons forest friends, and a treant who can trap baddies with roots. Who's your favorite? #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Week 3 working on my tower defense roguelike. This week I worked on the "Event" system and came up with some simple event ideas. Also built a couple maps and worked on UI polish. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

My kid: Dad, what is Sonic's full name? Me: Sonic the Hedgehog Him: What is Knuckles' full name? Me: Knuckles the Echidna Him: What is Shadow's full name? Me: Shadow the Hedgehog Him: What is Tails' full name? Me: *frowning* It's... Miles Prower, actually. Yo, sonic fans? What the fuck?

Week 2 of working on my Tower Defense Roguelike! We've got new units that animate, destructible forests, gamepad/mouse/touch support, better menus, branching paths, multiple biomes. Making good progress! #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Started working on a little tower defense roguelike in my free time. This is about a week of progress. Getting the water in the top right to animate correctly took BY FAR the most time out of anything in this gif, haha. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Kirby: Return to Dreamland Deluxe :B: | 4/5 stars Nice game to co op with my kid. Reminds me a lot of Superstar with the power variety, and the big movelist for each power. Seems like there's a decent post game too which is cool!

Kirby and the Forgotten Land :C: | 5/5 stars 100%'ed game+DLC with the kiddo. Really great co op! Pretty funny how early Kirby bosses are like: - Mean tree who drops apples on you - Bad penguin with hammer Then late game bosses are like: - Horror from Beyond the Stars - Sephiroth - The Thing

Ball X Pit :B: | 4/5 stars Very fun, kinda Vampire Survivors + Breakout. The combinations are fun to explore, I got pulled in for hours at a time. Not 100% sure on the base builder part, kinda made my characters overpowered at a certain point.
