glad i made it out to forgotten island before it left theaters, was a super lot of fun! (spoilers) but it is killing me that we never learned what fatima traded to get home?? they could have taken whatever object the memory was tied to for their bracelets… ? seems like a crazy oversight for 2 hours

my second choice for thing i wanted to know was dog boy backstory. i was expecting to learn that he traded his memory of actually being from the real world and somehow becoming a were dog on the island and doesn’t realize it etc. i would have traded the merman for either of these just personally

im a little torn on this because i actually really enjoyed this break from the usual american 3 act structure where every damn thing has to be a chekhov’s gun that ties up neatly in the end but i do think at least the grandma thing shoulda been in there. dogboy seemed set up to be explained as well

the thing about gilded cages is that they are so comfortable and pretty and pleasant to sit in and you have such a nice view through the bars, and I made you a bunch of toys and a soft pillow right there in the middle and I think you should just try sitting on it at least

I love that not only can this be seen as Chloe's personal boundaries she uses to keep Clair out of her life, but also that since the 'bars' are just her natural ribcage, it can also be read as Clair being so much of a control freak, that even the things a person naturally keeps to themselves is seen

dreamed my dad warned me about “superintelligent ants” at his rental so i went to get some raid but the cupboards were bare because the first thing the ants had done was find and incorporate all bottles of insecticide into the foundation of the tiny superstructure they built in front of the fridge

what i like about jojo's bizarre adventure is the extreme comfort in knowing no one else understands it either. even before watching, you let go of the project of comprehension and let wash over you, zenlike, a wave only its creator considers coherent. araki is much like david lynch in this way

as ive said before, in most of my favorite media the story's literal events are less important than metaphor, imagery, storytelling approach etc and jjba can fit into this category if you want it to but you can also just not get it at all and still enjoy it and be in good company and i love that tbh
