I'm trying to research some details about this nice robe I found at the thrift store. There's no tag other than the brand, Skin. Fortunately, I stopped myself before just searching "skin robe". I do not want to know what horrors might have awaited me.

That thing where you're out shopping at the tile store and a song from one of your burlesque acts starts playing. Like, you HAVE to do some choreo, it's impossible not to. So you're welcome, employees and patrons of Floors N' More.

I live just a few houses down from a middle school and on quiet mornings I can tell exactly which crossing guard is on duty by the aggressiveness of the whistle blowing (complimentary.)

Cool Springs (sprawling retail area south of Nashville) field trip today. Meeting my friend at the tile store so he can continue his years long indecisiveness about redoing his bathroom. Sporting goods store to consider winter emergency items. Lunch. Trader Joes.

I'm really cautiously thrilled about all the potential blue waves coming for places like Texas, NC, and Georgia. It just bums me out so much that Tennessee is never part of those speculations.

It's a new week, Bluesky. Trust no poll. Trust no pundit. Vote early if you can. Vote in person if you can.

I was so deeply committed to honesty that we didn't pretend about Santa or the Easter Bunny. Yet when we moved to a new town, I definitely told them there was no Chuck E. Cheese there.

Wearing the big robe this morning! It's gray, full length, with a zipper up the front and pockets. I got it at Sears sometime around 2005. It's hideous and I will wear it until it disintegrates.

Further spreadsheeting has been done and the final total isn't as bad as I initially thought but it's still just SO ANNOYING. And not my fault! Just another chapter in the fable of Hey, Don't Marry That Guy You Met in the Army When You Were 21.

I just did a financial accounting task that I have been dreading for more than a year and wow, it was more awful than I expected. I am low key financially freaking out now, but at least I finally know what I'd been avoiding. So there's that.

I moved the trash can in my office to a more logical, accessible place and it's great except I keep going to the old location, not finding it, and then remembering. Really economizing movement here.

I did a bunch of yard work last night, trimming shrubs and yanking out a lot of very long and crazy vines from the top of my fence line. It was kind of fun playing tug of war with the vines but wow do I have some interesting muscles aching today.

I went out to do yard work and ran out of both daylight and energy before I got the back yard cleaned up. The front yard is spiffy at least.

My dental insurance spontaneously doubled my premium, claiming a change in my plan. When I called to ask what change and who did it, the person on the phone was politely baffled. After many minutes on hold, she finally said, sorry, I don't know, but your price will not change, thanks bye.

I listened to this on my walk last night and scared a dog because I suddenly laughed so hard. One of the funniest episodes yet, and that's a pretty high bar.

Episode 55: Surrounded By Idiots Have you ever wondered why people have different personalities? A guy who’s not a psychologist is here to explain it during a mandatory workplace training.

A lot of it is not my fault but I should have dealt with it sooner. I am trying to be kind to myself about it all but I really just want to shriek.

That Tinashe song is holding my brain hostage, just blaring on repeat. I cannot dislodge it. Half awake at 3:45 in the morning, "too cool with their sunnies and their baggy pants." looping. Such a stranglehold.

But I also remember the local library did a kid's movie afternoon during the summer and showed us the old black and white Dracula movie. I was terrified of the space between my bed and the wall for years.

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

Apparently I had to be taken out of the theater in sobs during the forest fire in Bambi, which I think is completely fair.

Stacks: Plain & printed cropped no pockets Black cropped no pockets 7/8 (all have pockets) Plain & printed cropped with pockets Full length pockets (both plain and printed, the tallest stack) And I have 2 drawers of full length no pockets that I didn't get to yet.

In related news I spent several hours going thru the truly enormous stacks of leggings in my closet. I managed to winnow out several pair but I am still very, very wealthy.

My mom said she read that babies that learn to walk later are smarter, so she discouraged me from trying to walk till I was over a year old. Either that was wrong and this is just how smart I am anyway, or it was right and oh my god how much more stupid would I be if I'd walked sooner.

When I am feeling all calm and centered in yoga class, that's when the universe sends in someone who is THIRTY FIVE minutes late to loudly set up their mat next to me.

Trying to hit the perfect pre show balance of rehearsing just enough to be confident in the choreo and not so much that I overload my brain and can't remember any of it

My colon was just being dramatic on the earlier scan. Super pleased I don’t have to get another colonoscopy this year! Also I love this gastroenterologist, he was great. I hope I never need him again.

I had to get a follow up CT scan today and that involved an IV. The first stick didn't work and hurt a lot. Second stick did it, also hurt! The CT contrast feels so weird. To reward myself, I got a fish burrito the size of my face from Baja Burrito.
