Developers backed by American asset managers want to dredge up Falmouth harbour, spilling toxic chemicals into local waterways, just so mega cruise ships can drop off tourists who barely visit the local area. STOP THE DREDGE graceblakeley.substack.com/p/the-dredge...

It is obvious now that the Parliamentary Commissioner was about to throw the book at Farage so he’s decided to circumvent that formal punishment by resigning. However Farage could be stopped in his tracks - read this:

The CEO is being paid eighteen times as much as the Prime Minister of the UK. He’s in charge of an operation which is currently endorsed by the UK government despite it apparently doing more damage than Palestine Action.

Did you hear about the DC July 4 fireworks show? It promises 850,000 fireworks in 40 minutes. That's 354 per second. You'll miss up to 142 of them every time you blink. For your edutainment, I proudly present the nerdiest thing you will read about this dangerously absurd / absurdly dangerous event.

chadtopaz.comThree Hundred Fifty-Four Fireworks per Second — Chad M. TopazOrganizers promise 850,000 fireworks in roughly 40 minutes over the National Mall this Saturday. I did what a mathematician does with a big number: I divided. It did not make the show look better.

Imagine travelling thousands of miles just to spend your evenings doing zoomies over the same few houses... It's hard not to be impressed 👇 #SwiftAwarenessWeek

I would beg you to read the whole thread, as I think very few people have seen how fast the foundations of democracy are being torn out in the UK, and how far down the road towards authoritarianism we have already travelled. Sorry to pester you, but this could not be more important. Thanks.

Few people understand the scope of the powers UK governments have granted themselves, to criminalise us as terrorists for expressing an opinion. Fewer still understand how illiberal the Court of Appeal judgement is. But @davidallengreen.bsky.social does.🧵 www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/th...

Sorry to re-up this, but the media silence on the massive, country-changing shift towards arbitrary justice and authoritarianism is almost the most astonishing aspect of the case. The new dispensation is being normalised even as it's happening. Please spread it far and wide. We need to know. Thanks

Both the government and the Court of Appeal now treat protesters as terrorists and terrorists as protesters. It's hard to accept that a "Labour" government is imposing rightwing authoritarianism on the UK, but please read this column to see what's happening.+🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

There last few weeks shows how deeply principled and decent people can be, even when going through the most terrible pain. Their grace stands in stark contrast to those who would exploit their suffering for political gain.

The family of the Belfast stabbing victim have released a statement saying - like the family of Henry Nowak last week - that the attack should not be used to "divide people or fuel hostility" They condemned disorder and praised the "valuable contribution" by migrants inews.co.uk/news/politic...

😡🇬🇧😡🇬🇧😡🇬🇧😡🇬🇧 Morning Bluesky. More ‘warnings’. I am appalled by the indifference of the media. Today i will print all the warnings out and send them, with a handwritten letter to Sir Keir. I am currently enduring ‘transferred trauma’. Please bear in mind when responding

Asknish Bay on the Arduaine peninsula, Argyllshire, today, 21 April…..I heard a cuckoo as I had a swim here … we sat on the terrace till quarter to eight in the beautiful sunshine.

#Firstbirdofmyday Only a blooming nightingale!!! We rolled into Fingringhoe Wick and as we entered the reserve opened the car windows. This is what we heard. Sublime. There are currently 26 singing birds on the reserve. What utter bliss.

The additional cost of ONE fossil fuel price spike on the scale of 2022 = the ENTIRE COST of Net Zero by 2050. We get precisely nothing in return for the first cost, and a whole new, more secure and cheaper energy system from the second one. #NoBrainer www.theccc.org.uk/2026/03/11/c...
