I don't know fighting games well. Not the deeper mechanics or anything. So this may be me talking out of my ass, but watching some high level matches in SF6 and this new character Arjun looks ridiculously unbalanced. Whether ranged or grapplers. And he's in every highlight match. Kinda boring.

My biggest Boomer take isn't political. It's not about immigration. Or taxes. Or gun control. It's not about gender identity. Or abortion. Or the economy. It's that hardcore dancing is the worst thing to ever hit extreme music. And you should be ashamed of yourselves if you take part.

What's with new streaming series taking 3 to 4 episodes to even come close to catching their stride? Maybe I'm just suffering from binge watch burnout, but from Lanterns to VisionQuest to Edgrunners S2, none catch me right off the bat. Just feels like it's a new phenomenon.

Guys. That luxury cottage Hitler had in the Alps getting the torch taken to it isn't "destroying history". It's not some holy land. Or sacred site. Or hallowed battlefield. Not to normal people at least. It's a chateau built by a genocidal bigot being burned. Nothing more. No "history" is lost.

"Hey this megalith built by unknown peoples a thousand years ago is threatened by a mining proposal must be protected!" It's not the same as: "Yo this dictator built a vacation home with the wealth stolen from the millions he murdered and someone just set it on fire."

I spent the late 2000s early 2010s living in poverty and trying to raise a young family, so there was very little time spent online. As such, I missed a fuck ton of that early YouTube/internet subculture stuff. It caused a pop culture gap in my brain. It's a very odd situation.

Because of my age, not being familiar with that period of internet culture creates an odd divide between myself and a lot of my peers. For being from the generation of non sequitors and referential humor so much means nothing to me. I have no direct nostalgia. But I feel the absence in some ways.

For example, I'll come across videos that when I watch I'll be like "holy shit, this is exactly what my friends and I would have loved to watch/create back in the day!" And I'm thinking it's some new channel and be all excited and then "posted 15 years ago". And I realize how much I missed lol

Why yes, I would love to log in to an ignored processing failure an hour old that I now have to call accounting on their night off *and* get a programmer on chat to handle it because EVERYONE IS OUT OF OFFICE CUZ IT'S FUCKING FRIDAY!

I think i just have a thing for the "groups that disgust everyone else" in fiction fandoms. Cuz if you put a gun to my head and said I had to join a gang in the Cyberpunk universe I'm answering "Maelstrom" before the question even passes your tongue.

Just started that new series "Below" and so far, I'm pretty sure i know what the monster is and mostly it's just making me want to go to Newfoundland. It's like the rural Midwest but on the water.

Oh they seem to not be hiding what the monster is. I thought it was going to be a mystery. But one character is already researching it. Still. These could be my old neighbors of we lived on the coast. Wonder how accurate to Newfoundlanders they actually are.

I fucking hate living in a swing state during election season. Any election. Even midterms. Because WI is so wishy-washy you simply can't escape being inundated with political ads. Commercials, mailers, flyers, signs. And they're all just dishonest mud slinging trash. American politics is awful.

Hey, just a reminder for anyone who may need it: You may be forced to be *related* to someone, but *you* get to choose your family. Never feel guilty for cutting off unhealthy relatives. Regardless of how immediate.

"Mississippi" style pot roast (chuck roast, ranch seasoning, au jus powder, pepperoncini, etc) has become a regularly rotated meal for me. I had to dial back ingredients, though. A whole packet of both ranch and gravy seasonings is WAAAY too salty. Swear, the average American has a dead palate lol

To sum it up, Hellraiser: Revival is awesome. Gave me chills. I have a very strong affection for the property. Probably stemming from seeing it at WAAAY too young an age lol This was well worth experiencing.

World's richest man: *asks AI bot to select and buy gifts for his kids* Me: *spent time with my youngest going over one of those Amazon gift catalogs and having her circle 'likes' and star 'must haves'* And just that 10 minutes is the difference between a shit father and a decent one.

VHS: Mixtape is the worst of the series. And that's saying *a lot*. Not a single good sequence. Either shoddily done, obnoxious acted, a moronic premise, or nauseatingly filmed. Just another fucking disappointment.

The only place that had Hellraiser: Revival in stock was the Best Buy a half hour away. That's insane. Not Walmart, not Target, nit even Gamestop. And they only had two copies. They really don't want you buying physical anymore.

Fuck. Yes. WotC employees across multiple brands have given their employer a week to recognize their new unionization! Out-fucking-standing news! Better pay, job security, protections against AI, and more. Very pleased to see this. Let's see if WotC and parent company Hasbrob fight it.

Conflict in the ME, exploding cost of living, and waging a culture war instead of creating actual policy has the GOP scared of a Dem midterm takeover. So they jingle $500 bribes in our faces. And you know what? It'll prob work cuz Americans are the most ignorant voters in the western world.

Apparently there's a TV show filming in my city? I haven't seen anything around town. No like production crews or vehicles. So I'm thinking it's one of those things where maybe they shoot interior scenes somewhere here, and maybe outdoor establishing shots, but the bulk is filmed elsewhere?

Townfall was really good, btw. Loved the setting and sound design especially. Had a few issues with enemy pathing breaking and then getting stuck in one place. The puzzles were excellent. Especially the more complex late game ones.

Omg there's a first person horror game coming to PC where you're stuck in a little roadside dinosaur museum and your flashlight is a little trex with the bulb in his mouth and he roars every time you turn it on and I love it.

Normalize men sounding the alarm on other men when you find out their violent predators. I don't care of is your boys or not. Check them *before* they can act on their bullshit. Not after someone gets victimized. Fucking cowards.

This is a screenshot from Dem congressional candidate Mitchell Berman. It's pathetic. This guy is trying do hard to cater to rural red stater Wisconsinites. Open carry side arm on his hip, flannel shirt, fishing in a creek. The whole ad is him going "I just want to fish and hunt".

I've lived in rural Wisconsin for nearly 20 years. The people he's targeting will never fall for this. He doesn't need to pander to that demographic. It's insulting. They see right through it. He needs to win them over with policy. Not platitudes. This ad is such a stupid idea.

Man. Eggers 'Werwulf' *looks* so damn good, but I'm absolutely convinced it's going to be clinical lycanthropy. Not supernatural. And any transformation scene(s) we get will be hallucinations. Likely brought on by Aaron's character suffering psychosis and/or drug use to alleviate his "curse".

We're going to get a "possession/curse as an allegory for mental illness" story. Not a literal monster movie. And like, that's not *bad*. I'd just prefer an actual creature feature. Maybe it's due to my own mental heath history. But that trope is a bit grating for me.

All this to say that I'm still gonna watch it because i like Eggers' visual language. So he'd have to really fuck things up to make a movie i couldn't enjoy at least on the surface.
