My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I would argue that Shatner going to space frames him as a fascinating and complicated figure; he refused to play into Bezos' Captain Kirk fantasies and waxed poetic about human fragility & mortality. Which is exactly the kind of ego-bashing cool shit Kirk would pull with cosmic deities!

I'm not judging really, but when his name is mentioned, it's always for some feud or some goofy thing he said on social media, or going to space or doing a heavy metal album... A lot of times now, they don't even mention Kirk or Star Trek. Which, fair, he is no longer anchored to the character.

The question of what TOS might have been had it focused more on the supporting players is a fascinating one. I will say that personally I think the show benefitted from its strong focus on the Kirk/Spock/McCoy dynamic. Their chemistry is just off the charts.

No big message, it's just that I haven't watched TOS for a million years and digging around, I was surprised to find how potent a lot of it still was. All the actors are great, I am sure they would have killed if they had been allowed some camera time. But Shatner is impressive, however dated.

But *Kirk* is often putting on a performance, and Shatner's performance *of that* is great, and I suspect that often kind of confuses people

There was a famous storyline in the 70’s comics about the Joker dumping a chemical into the water which transformed fish to look like him. He then wanted a royalty payment every time someone ate a fish. The person who requested this commission took the idea a step further!

I wish Larry Hama had done dozens of those "dinner with Serpentor" strips. DR. MINDBENDER: (Increasingly agitated) You can't possibly be telling me the Battle of Agincourt was decided by a game of horse! SERPENTOR: No, no, no, of course not...but yes.

It took me 50 years to figure out that the picture Spidey takes of Godzilla in issue #24 is the image on the cover. That Parker kid’s got talent!

I am so glad to hear this, very much looking forward to it!

HOLY SHIT I LOVED CLAYFACE This is Sony's shitty villain spinoff movies does right. Doesn't feel like a superhero thing at all. Doesn't feel like some cringe AU either (the way Joker kinda did) The two leads were great All the body horror stuff is great and I buy him becoming a villain at the end
