Coming in Feb: Minor Threats: Welcome to Twilight – Villains and Vignettes #3. Who are The Superlatives? Seven random people transformed by the literal finger of fate into beings with extraordinary powers. One of them wants to form a new team of super heroes. The others? Not so much.

I've listened to a lot of JMD's interviews and this is genuinely one of my favorites. Some really sharp insights covering JMD's Spider-Man work as a cohesive developing narrative but also with a specificity often lacking in these conversations (like exploration of his collaboration with Luke Ross).

Through the magic of the internet I take a trip to Northern Ireland to talk to the False Face podcast about all things Spider-Man. It's a very deep dive: we explore a wide swath of my Spidey stories. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8ws...

Our comic Kickstarter is at 76% of our goal but we could use a little help pushing it over the finish line.

Thank you to William Moulton Marston & H.G. Peter who created her & to the many directors, writers, artists, & actors who helped bring her to life! 🙏🏼 Happy 85th, Wonder Woman! May you be celebrated with upcoming covers, films, series, games, & most of all, stories you so richly deserve! 💛❤️💙

Today is the birthday of Jerry Siegel, co-creator of Superman, who changed the pop culture landscape in a single bound. There wouldn't be a comic book business as we know it without him. We all stand on his shoulders.

Absolutely anyone can make music. Singing along in the car is making music. Tapping your foot to the rhythm is making music. Music is INHERENT in us. We make it spontaneously and passionately. What is being offered here is a bleak, cheap simulacrum of a freely available and immortal human joy.

I will always celebrate Joe Sinnott, an extraordinary artist combined with being the nicest man. Besides his drawing ability, no one had the amazing brush and pen control that Joe did! All on tight deadlines, inking several comics per month!

If the internet is to be believed, this showed up in comic book shops on this day in 1995. Still can't believe I was fortunate enough to team these two up, not once—but twice. (Once for Marvel with Mark Bagley, once for DC with Graham Nolan.) Talk about childhood dreams coming true.

My old friends at Rolling Stone ran an excerpt from Serling, where famous fans like JJ Abrams, Vince Gilligan, and Rian Johnson talk about The Twilight Zone's genius and its influence on their work:

Madame Defarge would be delighted. Just when you think they can't go any lower, they sink to new depths.

For The New York Times, I wrote about how Rod Serling create The Twilight Zone in part because it was the only way in the 1950 and 60s for him to comment on the subjects he cared about most, and how that's a good blueprint for contemporary media to deal with our surreal current moment:

nytimes.comOpinion | ‘The Twilight Zone’ Created a Blueprint for Surviving Our Surreal Moment (Gift Article)With “The Twilight Zone,” Rod Serling created a durable blueprint for understanding our surreal reality.

Been rereading some classic 60s Marvels, especially Lee-Kirby FF and Thor, and it's so inspiring watching the evolution of Kirby's craft and imagination, in both art and writing (and, yes, he was very much co-writer on those books).

Kirby is doing things he's never done before and Stan is right there with him, sharpening his dialogue, purpling his prose to perfection, adding layers of awe and emotion. It remains one of the greatest arcs in comics history.

At the same time, Kirby was unleashing all manner of brilliance in the pages of Thor—Greek gods, Colonizers from Rigel, High Evolutionary, Ego the living planet. Not to mention the brilliant Tales from Asgard backups. I'd call it all Kirby's peak, but that was still to come with the Fourth World.

The earlier FFs are lots of fun, wildly imaginative (if often goofy by today's standards), but by the time they reach the first Galactus/Surfer story, Jack and Stan are working on another plane entirely.
