It’s been a while, so quote this skeet with your favourite $20 dollar word. I’m going to start in hopes you all y’all escalate: - inchoate - perfunctory - epiphenomenal Now you all y’all go:

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence. “Vernon put his hand lightly on his shoulder, the forgiving touch.” From “Amsterdam” by Ian McEwan - loved his latest (“What We Can Know”), so decided to reread his Booker Prize winner.

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence. “When the pro-leader paramilitary and the official police and military intermingle, the end has come.” From “On Tyranny” by Timothy Snyder, because I love bedtime reading that makes me grind my teeth all night.

So, for anybody out there who’s read Thomas Pynchon’s latest, “Shadow Ticket.” I feel a lot of the motorcycle oriented bit of the last bit of the book resonated with his feelings about the death of his close friend, Richard Fariña, to whom he dedicated Gravity’s Rainbow.

Wasn’t Elian Gonzalez during Clinton’s presidency (with Janet Reno head of DOJ), thus before DHS was created?

I think he was reunited with his father *in the U.S.* at one point, but he didn’t leave the country until the asylum/legal process was exhausted And I have no idea if the Secretary of Homeland Security relied on 279(b)(1)(H) at any point during all of that

I just want to relive the night in 1974 when I got high with a bunch of my friends and played poker and listened to the Mahavishnu Orchestra for the first time.

Unforgettable memories: The night described above. The first time I heard Nick Drake (at a pizza joint near DU). The first time I heard Bach’s St Matthews’s Passion. Seeing (and hearing) the first video from OK Computer. (Although, I guess if it’s forgettable, it’s not a memory. 😉)

Form is emptiness, emptiness is form. “All composed things are like a dream, a phantom, a drop of dew, a flash of lightning. That is how to meditate on them, that is how to observe them.”

This is pretty wild. I don’t think we really need AI to tell us that Trump has a habit of suing his enemies.

Does anybody else think it was kind of tone deaf for them to use “Rockin’ in the Free World” as the walk-off music after Walz’s speech last night? Kind of a “Don’t know what ‘Born in the USA’ is about? - hold my beer” moment.

You are up to date.
