I want to support public broadcasting but NPR plays the "Nice Polite Republicans" bit way too much, they structure everything around it so that readers are led to believe problems caused or made worse by Republicans are acts of god and forces of nature.

Listened to an NPR story this morning about mass child starvation in Senegal without a single mention of Elon Musk, the guy who gleefully created the conditions for the mass starvation

I'm not disagreeing with Jay's agency here. But he's literally saying if the answer to this question is yes, OR if you were within 2 seats in any direction on a plane, you have to be locked down in your home or a facility. 2020 Jay: having a seizure. 2026 Jay: Mr. Humility.

thanks for this reminder, Dr. Weida. G2211 is an important addition in recognizing the work of caring for primary care patients and for patients with serious, ongoing chronic conditions (medical specialists can use it.)

As of 2026, G2211 is no longer only for office and outpatient visits. Now the complexity add-on code may also be reported with home or residence E/M services (CPT codes 99341-99350). More about G2211: https://bit.ly/3OEx28d

Federal agents are pulling over off duty cops based on the color of their skin. This is not a serious operation to enforce immigration law. It’s a performative show of force and it’s gotten way out of hand.

Your first year of a PhD program, they give you a methods class explaining why not to do this study. When you become a faculty member, they make you submit proposed studies to an ethics board to make sure you never do this study.

Here's my latest thinking on totals for Tuesday. 1st of the season can be tricky. Remember snow bands likely shift with data. During the day this time of year grass accumulates more than roads. Focus on idea of bands, not exact placement. Updates tomorrow. 🙏#Winter #snow

I helped make a film, out this week, called “Rovina’s Choice,” about the deaths this man without conscience or accountability has caused — already 600,000, ⅔ of them children.

Which doesn't stop them from denying claims big and small.

UnitedHealth just posted $4.3 BILLION in profit last quarter — even after losing customers. How? Uncle Sam’s money. 💸 78% of its revenue now comes from taxpayers — mostly Medicare Advantage. Corporate welfare in a lab coat. #BlueSky #MedSky #NewsSky #NurseSky

Platner: No one cares that you pretend to be remorseful as you sell out to lobbyists. Symbolic opposition does not reopen hospitals. Weak condemnations do not bring back Roe V Wade. Maine deserves better than Susan Collins.

"What’s it like to have lived through both HIV and COVID as an ID doctor?" A new intern asked me that last week. I didn’t answer it fully then -- but I did here. #IDSky blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-obser...

Was glad to have the opportunity to join Morning Edition today — despite being, emphatically, not a morning person — to chat about the looming cuts to Medicaid. (Tough to hit all of the essential points in five minutes, though.)

Welcome to new followers. I’m a Washington Post reporter covering politics and public health. My big focus right now: trying to understand what RFK Jr’s role will be in a Trump administration, what he wants to do, and how he could do it. Some background on the Trump-RFK alliance here:

My Solomonic view is that NYT—perhaps the president’s primary persecutor recently—showed its whole ass with this swiss-cheese Parkinson’s specialist story. It’s blatantly copied from right-wing charlatans, unvetted. And a nimbler White House and campaign would be making it pay dearly for that.

You are up to date.
