16 years, made by hand. Wildwood is a masterpiece and should be seen on the big screen. P.S. St. Johns Bridge should have a 2-way protected bikeway, so getting to Forest Park is not "Impassable".

The idea of riding with Middle Schoolers off-campus can be 😱scary. But the reward is huge. They deserve to explore their community and there is no safer or better way than a biking field trip.

Riding over that bridge was ethereal in the fog, like the Governess from Wildwood would come out to greet us. 4/x

This ride was a huge effort, mostly by Jessica Fletcher, but I want to thank everyone who gave their time! Go see Wildwood - it's a love letter to Portland. Beware of the PG-13 rating. It is not little kid friendly. 5/end

1 year in the making, our dream was realized this morning. We rode bikes with kids on the Impassable St. John's Bridge. 2/x

The ride began in between the St. John's Library and James John Elementary with a celebration of the film πŸŽ₯ and a rally to keep all Portland Public Schools open. 3/x

πŸ₯‡ best biking city in America! We had a beautiful week of rolling around #Minneapolis. πŸ—ΊοΈ πŸ”—https://www.bikabout.com/minneapolis

Death ☠️ trap crosswalk 🚸 22nd is a Bike Boulevard in Minneapolis and Hai Hai is a very popular restaurant. Many people crossing by foot. @mndot.mn.gov, please add a high viz crossing here.

" " Things I heard the Odell middle schoolers when we biked in PE class: + wait, your electric ⚑ is OFF!? + have you done this ride 3 times today for our school? + there's a car 😒 + that hill was fun! + You're not even breathing hard + you biked here from Hood River! + Fall 🍁 colors are beautiful

if you can get to st johns by 8 am next Saturday you can ride across st johns bridge with safe enough numbers to avoid triggering your cortisol, a rare opportunity indeed!

1 week from today 🚲 πŸ¦β€β¬› 🌲! We ride across the St. John's Bridge to celebrate the release of Wildwood. 1/2 RSVPπŸ”— docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

25% of Cascade Locks Elementary used their bodies to get to school! 16 students biked 🚲, walked πŸšΆπŸ½β€β™€οΈ, scooted πŸ›΄ AND rollerbladed πŸ›Ό more than a mile and they were joined by almost as many parents. 🎢 πŸŽ‚ Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles was #1 on the Billboard today in 1961.

Milestone πŸ‘πŸ» achieved! This year marks the first time the safe routes to school program educated students from kinder through 5th grade. I showed Julian the video of the moment he learned how to ride ON THAT SMALL BIKE..."send it to my mom!"

"were you the one at Westside Elementary who taught me how to ride a bike last year? I never got a chance to thank you. Now I can ride with my older sister" Almost sweeter than the moment they learn to ride is the follow-up on how it's changed their lives. Especially with older students.

When you park in a bikeway or walkway, you prevent this πŸ‘‡πŸ» Yesterday, I was riding home and had to call the police, who promptly came to issue tickets to people who parked in the bike lane, and was reminded of the "why" 2 blocks later when I saw this village supporting their newly walking toddler.

This is 17. She's biked in over 30 cities around the world, doesn't have a driver's license and gets around my transit independently. I joke that she is her school's Valedictorian of Transportation.

Halsey over I-84 has a 2-way bikeway now! The ride to Gateway Transit Center is little step closer to convenient and safe.

"Childhood joy and freedom are the fire in my πŸ”₯work" I received the Alice Award from @thestreettrust.org and got to celebrate with many of the people who have supported and inspired me from leading a bike 🚲 πŸš‚ to starting a safe routes to school program to the Hood River E-bike Library.

🌈 a rainbow before the bike rodeo at May Street Elementary is always a good sign. 3 kinders and one 5th grader learned how to ride today!

10 of my 15 library borrowers have purchased their E-bike for car replacement. "This report shows that the Electrification + Mode Shift policy scenario alone can reduce annual fuel consumption in urban passenger transport by 70%" itdp.org/publication/...

"It's just the beginning," Ramey added. "I think we have no idea how impactful these two programs are going to be on people's lives. I think it's going to be a game changer for the Gorge and how people envision themselves getting around." πŸ”— Gorge Magazine issuu.com/thegorgemaga...

Happy 17th birthday to my mini-me, Annika. Giving birth to her changed my life trajectory, forever an advocate for childhood mobility. πŸ“Έ Photo 1: 2012 after speaking at the Western Ave cycletrack ribbon πŸŽ€ βœ‚οΈ cutting πŸ“Έ Photo 2: 2026 on a trip "home" to see our friends. #cycletrack #bikeadvocate

What a week! Hood River County, know for our pear 🍐 orchards, showed up to walk to school in honor of farmworkers' rights legend, Dolores Huerta. 1/3

3 Latinas who grew up in Hood River County, read the book πŸ“– Lolo Out Loud, a fictional book about Dolores Huerta by Jennifer Torres, to the students before we walked. 2/3

"I started out every time not knowing what I was to do and scared to death." Dolores Huerta's response when asked if she ever felt unsure of herself. She went on to coin the rally cry, Β‘SΓ, se puede! which Obama used in 2008, Yes, we can! 3/3

Seeing a mom of 3 do the school run with a bike+ trailer that she now owns thanks to the Hood River E-bike Library, is why I have the best job. Thanks to @pacificpower.bsky.social for funding this program! I am applying today to increase funding from $100->300k to increase the impact.

SΓ, se puede! 80 families in the agricultural community of Odell (pop. 2400) showed up for Dolores Huerta Walk to School Day! As a migrant farmworkers community with zero safe walking and biking routes, her rally has never been more poignant. We need πŸ’° for Safe Routes to School in #Oregon!

Giving people a chance to change their minds is why street pilots matter.

The most amazing thing is happening behind the scenes at Pike Place Market. The Constituencyβ€”once an obstacle to progressive changeβ€”is now fighting to keep cars out of the market.

The cuteness!!! Happy Dolores Huerta Walk to School Day from Hood River, Oregon. #hispanicheritagemonth #saferoutestoschool
