It's cool that we let 28-year old nihilistic tech dipshits commit genocide as a treat. That's great. I love the tech industry.

WIRED@wired.com

Despite the agency's human resources department saying he hadn’t even been onboarded, Jeremy Lewin oversaw the destruction of USAID. It’s not clear he had the legal authority to do so.

I want groveling apologies. I want the ENTIRE tech industry, from junior programmers to CEOs, on their knees begging for our forgiveness and continuously, fervently apologizing for their sociopathic excesses. You are the worst humanity has to offer.

A simple eugenicist.

We have near final results from Brazil, 99.8% reporting: Lula 51.76% Bolsonaro 48.24% In 2022, Lula beat Bolsonaro's father by 1.8%; so he has nearly doubled his lead. Also, if you followed this thread & enjoyed it... be sure to follow me: I'll be tracking 700 US elections at once in 9 days!

I don't want to alarm anyone, but I'm at the Bears-Falcons game in Atlanta and I'm beginning to think the Decibel Meter may be faked.

I'm in this 6%. There are dozens of us. Dozens!

The ~1 in 6 people who favor the death penalty but don't want executions to be public are the lowest of the low. Absolute moral cowardice. An enraging combination of positions.

And by Good Guys I mean the guys who don't gleefully employ Nazis on their campaign. The latter can kiss my ass after I'm done with this run.

If we're going to have a death penalty it should be firing squad. 5 bullets to the head do quick work. There's no kind, compassionate way to kill someone. Let people see what it is that they support.

The Emory Biology department is hiring a tenure-track ecologist at any rank. Deadline is Nov 1, link below! As I've said many times before, I couldn't ask for a more supportive department. Our faculty colleagues, dept chair, and admin staff are truly awesome ❤️ apply.interfolio.com/191783

Hey quick reminder while everyone was freaking out about the substation and Kyle Shanahan you all seemed to miss that the most injured team over the last decade isn't the 49ers... ...it's the New York Giants!

Ed Valentine@edvalentine.bsky.social

Brian Burns reportedly becomes second #NYGiants star lost for the season to a knee injury in as many weeks. www.bigblueview.com/new-york-gia...

Honestly Devon Achane sitting the rest of this season...may not be the worst outcome for everyone involved. Assuming he comes back 100%.

Vought is breaking the law but he is not “going rogue.” At his confirmation hearings, Vought told Republicans he would do this and they voted for him anyway. If they want to stop him, they still can via impeachment. They won’t.

Now that I have tenure I can finally say this with my chest: boards of trustees/regents/etc. were a huge mistake and every university needs to dismantle them ASAP.

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

One way to look at this is that regents/boards that make the final decisions about universities are effectively political appointees or private moneyed interests determined to impose their ideological views on higher education. Attacking faculty governance is one way to do it.

At best they're unobtrusive rubber stamps. But now with an aggressive right-wing push to kill and control universities "let's give a bunch of rich people final say over everything we do" turns out to have some downsides!!

For all the "reading is dead* discourse do you know where I'm seeing more reading of paper books than I ever have before? MARTA. It's maybe 10-15% of people are just straight up reading a book.
