To fix things the democratics will have to be extreme. They must not worry that being extreme will make them "no better than the republicans". The difference is intent: to build a state not destroy one. To regain the rule of law not to erode it. To govern for the people not for personal gain.

Fantastic thread

Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.

What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

Climate disaster keeps disastering: Satellite monitoring has detected massive plumes of methane pouring from Chevron's Gorgon LNG plant in Western Australia. (This is the one connected to the world’s biggest carbon capture and storage project WHIICH IS ALSO FAILING) www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10...

@sarahkendzior.bsky.social you have warned us many times how difficult it is to reverse authoritarianism, your views informed by global research and observation. Do you have another book in you on _how_ to reverse it? On how it has been done? I don't think people understand the job ahead.

If anything should cause torch and pitchfork carrying rioters to burn the incumbents at the stake, it should be this. If you don't have democracy, violent rebellion is your only way to make change.

Jaguar E Type. It would still be fun to have, but only if i were so rich that something this frivolous seemed reasonable.

What was the first car you ever dreamed of owning, and do you still want one today?

I see Alberta has voted to stay in Canada AND voted for nearly all of the ridiculous 9. So Albertans don't want to give you health care if you're an immigrant. Want to restrict your movements if you're an immigrant, want to keep your children out of school if you're an immigrant.

Finally, Albertans voted yes to giving Danielle Smith the power to impede federal law, including the power to shut down any federal investigations into jet government's corruption.

Also, in a scary bit of echoing the republican party, Alberta's want Danielle Smith to appoint judges to the Kings bench and appeal courts - she is likely panting after this so she can stack the court with judges open to her blatantly unconstitutional attacks on immigrants.

People say "we need regulation". No. We need corporate death. Many at facebook should be in prison and the entity known as meta should no longer exist. There needs to be real consequence.

The courts in Canada should allow the federal government to repo the Hamilton plant and fill those orders due to breach of contract with the Canadian government over employment levels.
