Donald begins to understand the concepts of ideology and cultural hegemony.

Mounties and Canadian loggers were very important in silent and old Hollywood: they filled a very real "we have use of Lone Pine but don't want to make another western" gap.

Stan wasn't just two-faced, he was three-faced!

"See, it just didn't made any sense to me. Why would someone who claims to love comics would write for The Comics Journal, who notoriously hate comics?"

I love Alicia Malone's tribute to Yvonne Furneaux as Isobel/Princess Ananaka with her leopard print heels during her interview with @thehorrormaster.bsky.social about The Mummy on @tcmtv.bsky.social

More and more, I'm identifying with the hapless authority figures in the Archieverse, like Mr. Andrews in this recent reprint of Little Archie #1.

I got pretty excited when I thought the radio was airing soundbites of the great cartoonist Jesse Marsh who drew Tarzan & Gene Autry comics in the 1950s but it turns out it's just more World Cup bullshit. #dellcomics #brothersofthespear

I'm not being paid residuals for my singing on Josie & the Pussycats bc I guess producers failed to provide paperwork to @sagaftra.org for my 20+ vocal sessions in summer 2000. SAG says I had 2 years (??) to report but I found out this year. Didn't hit my '25 earnings so l lose my health ins July1

Have you ever "air knocked" along to a favourite movie? boxd.it/eDpHF5

Hey, the Wright Awards for Canadian Cartooning are next week @TCAF and it's pretty neat the creators of the Mighty Mites from Owl Magazine are being inducted into the Giants of the North Hall of Fame! dougwrightawards.com/announcing-t...

Of course Jack White played The Gories on the Michigan public access show with Colbert.

Was thinking about icons, not liking flags, and which leftist collectivist symbols I do like. This one was first to mind so rendered my own take on it. The Raised Anti-Fascist Red Workers Fist of Resistance. Image is pretty big, Creative Common licence CC BY-NC. #left #canpoli #NoAI

In what universe would Lee J Cobb threaten to throw acid on Cyd Charisse's face multiple times? It's this one! boxd.it/erwe9v

Awful for everyone else involved in this project but this nomination needs to be removed from the Eisners shortlist immediately.

Invisible Scarlet O'Neil, 1942.

Another film with less than 200 logs on Letterboxd. My ★★★ review of So Well Remembered (1947): It's all about great hair. boxd.it/ekofs5 :

Panels from 1949 comic strip by jazz saxophone giant Wayne Shorter: "Other Worlds" was created by a teenage Shorter, printed on inner sleeve of his 1987 Phantom Navigator LP.

Comics in Film: Foul Play (1978) Henchman reads a copy of Little Lulu #244 (Gold Key, 1978), by Arnold Drake and Irving Tripp. He's about to be defeated by librarian Goldie Hawn; classic comics vs literature class war in the guise of Hitchcockian farce. boxd.it/ehbgEt

Crumb, Nausea.

RIP Ted Turner. Colorization is evil, but if you've seen some of these movies 10,000 times already it's kinda fun to see a fucked-up version of them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gNS...

A huge number of artists have two albums in 1977… including John Williams (STAR WARS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS)

Around minute 94 of THE MUPPET MOVIE (1979), during the closing credits, we see Miss Piggy speaking briefly to Janice in the screening room, and the film finally passes the Bechdel Test.

The top American movie 120 years ago was... A comic book adaptation. DREAM OF A RAREBIT FIEND (1906) was a live action adaptation of the Winsor McKay strip. Here we see the migraine imps doing their worst to the hapless hero, who has consumed entirely too much rarebit.

I'm usually late to every party, so I'm going to take all opportunities to note when I've seen a film that a handful of people have logged, even if it's only a half hour doc shown on TCM. letterboxd.com/bkmunn/film/... #JerrySchatzberg

I just drank a a bottle & 1/2 of cabsauv and watched the 2nd 1/2 of Ron Howard's Gung Ho (1986) starring Gedde Watanabe and Michael Keaton and cried like a baby. Why does L Ron Howard deny he directed this, his only good movie? #wikifail #eighties #georgewendt #willow #cia
