Programming / indie dev is crashing way faster than ppl think. No AI = no job exp using the latest tools + reading industry slop code manually, but use it and everyone hates you and none of your work / intelligence matters because claude left 🤖 emoji in your PR.

Kotaro Uchikoshi has followed up with Q&A

You can't just "do what we did for years" because AI has obfuscated what was originally human language into something unparseable. This is why I started programming my entire stack from scratch last year. I knew this would happen and didn't want to trust a single line without my own tooling.

New in TinyBVH 1.9.1, dev branch: github.com/jbikker/tiny... Initial RDNA3/4 hardware ray tracing support! By Alessandro Salo, Utrecht University. The OpenCL kernel uses intrinsics for ray/tri & ray/aabb intersection, as well as stack management. For primary rays it matches native DXR performance.

I can get using AI to automate tedious tasks or improve ergonomics but bragging about sicking multiple claude accounts on someone elses fan project to finish it is just insane.

I want to yap about all the different things Ive learned over the years to make this engine, but ironically im a bit paranoid of AI plagiarism lol. I am grateful to remember every single blog post, siggraph video, arxiv paper, and graphics youtubers I studied for every little detail of this engine.

The benefit of knowing exactly what kind of game you want to make is that you already know the problem space ahead of time. Large draw distances and real-time low latency dynamic lighting is quite tricky to do right. This video has a lot of flaws I've already fixed after just a week or so.

One hope I have as many vibecoders are pumping out pretty three.js games, is that most people won't understand the different tradeoffs of each technique and how to synergize them not just for performance, but also artistic intent.

The crazy thing is I just got this idea a week ago. No uv unwrapping, voxel rigs on the fly. You dont need to learn proprietary software anymore. The software adjusts to you.

In the end, the only thing eternal is change. While no form of government is perfect, Code Geass has one underlying beacon. Which is that change needs to come from below. That it's those who suffer and persevere who need the power to build it.

It's emphatically anti-fascist while still understanding the pain and grief it requires to upset the status quo. If one person's death can change the world, then so can one person's life. We fight to build, and we only build freely when the last king is dead. But why do we wait?

It was easy for me as a child to write it off as political fantasy that relied on shock value to entertain, but as I grow older I feel its heart was based on truths that felt paradoxically timeless. A show that puts every form of government under criticism, and still has its own answer.

We are oft to believe singular people don't have the power to change the world, and yet its this unyielding hope for it that drives people to follow others without question. The central dogma that Lelouch questions out of pure boredom are sensationalized specifically to prove this point.

I haven't talked about Deltarune chapter 5 yet but I did play it! It was fun but I don't think I'll delve too deep into it this time. I have my own worlds to create after all. The most emotional moments in the game might be the ones we may never hear. That alone is powerful enough for me.

I've been trying to do art again because I got a new tablet, but I still end up getting sucked in to doing pixel art on mouse which is pretty bad for my wrists. Anyways this isn't exactly how I want Duriel's design to look but its most the concept!

LLMs are making me wish I didnt spec into programming even more than I already did. The one positive I had going was the idea of a stable income for the people I care about and now I can't even provide that.

If you're looking for work in gamedev, here's a thread of guides I've written about everything from setting freelance rates to writing a good cover letter I've been in gamedev for over 13 years and been on both sides of the interview table a lot, so these are all the things I wish I'd known 🧵 1/6

this was the last stage track i composed for dragon drop - verve! i'm sure i'll end up doing more in the future, but i had the BEST time working on this game's soundtrack. dragon drop really helped shape my style into what it is today! #vgm

i do not want the games industry to recover. i want something new to be built atop its now ashen foundation and i want those who previously brought ruin, rot, and misery to be outside looking in as they give up and seek some other well to poison
