Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Denmark and the Netherlands condemned US sanctions against the ICC, warning that they threaten its independence and the pursuit of justice. The UN, EU and human rights groups also denounced the US move.

"If you are serious...You will accept the consensus of scholars that Israel has committed genocide - and abide by legal obligations that flow from that. Total arms embargo and sweeping sanctions." Owen's advice to Burnham applies to Australia's PM. Who won't even go as far as Burnham's tokenism.

Owen Jones@owenjones.bsky.social

This is infuriating crap. He says: “There's increasing evidence that war crimes appear to have been committed.” He knows Israel has committed war crimes on an industrial scale. He’s refusing to say so because it would impose legal obligations on him to actually act.

Set up by Labor. Fully supported by the Liberals. And don’t know but I’d be surprised if One Nation object to a free run on corruption. The NACC A Disaster

Of course he’s good but of course he’s scored more World Cup goals than anyone else. He’s still playing in his 40’s and he’s played way more games. So not a very meaningful statistic.

Uniquely American is the best explanation I’ve ever heard for why I can’t stand jazz.

Jazz is the greatest, most genuine, & uniquely American invention. It’s literally impossible for Jazz to have been born in another than the American context If America spoke, it would’ve spoken the tunes written by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Monk, Miles, Trane, Armstrong, Bird, Dizzy, etc, etc

I’m mean of course I agree - but isn’t it kowtows? And isn’t it pronounced “cow taos”? (I head an English person pronounce it “cow toes” the other day.)

This is exactly why we have Pride. Because a few years ago this would have just been a hateful fringe figure - but this is where our politics is heading with a Government that kertows. We will resist. And bring hope (*and* electing progressive politicians.) We will win. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Iran, during its strikes, did not hit a single hospital or school, not even accidentally, while Israel and the United States, both claiming to possess some of the most advanced and precise military technology in the world, have repeatedly been linked to attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Today we grieve 1,000 days of genocide perpetrated by the Israeli and US governments against Palestinians in Gaza. For 1,000 days, the Israeli military has systematically flattened Gaza — and now Lebanon — to make it impossible for Palestinians and Lebanese to return to their homes.

Albonese saying he’s “not against someone having a punt” is simply craven subservience to the gambling industry. No one is trying to ban gambling. It’s state capture - again.

If Andy Burnham represented change, they'd treat him like Zack Polanski.

รℓσαɳε ℓყรɓεƭɦ@sloanelysbeth.northsky.social

if andy burnham represented change he'd have a bunch of challengers and the press would be tearing him to bits instead of presenting him as some sort of messiah. this is a tedious cycle at this point.

PSA in case you thought Brett’s Walking Tour only did history - according to my new German friends Susanne and Daniel we also do hot tips on very cool secret bars. Bitte schon. Hit me up.

I'm convinced that centrist columnists are selected for their incredible ability to get duped over and over again, with the same undying optimism every single time.
