A lot of people are bringing up that Frank Sinatra, a known mob artist, did not have good politics on many other things and it is the most annoying part of the internet that when I mention pancakes somebody turns up to yell at me about waffles

Frank Sinatra almost got into a fist fight with Bing Crosby on the set of High Society to defend the dignity of Louis Armstrong, who was added to the production due to Sinatra’s advocacy. It’s not hard to find PSAs for tolerance that Sinatra filmed!

If you think pedestrians and cyclists, don’t particularly like sharing the road with drivers, wait till you meet other drivers. Drivers are probably the most anti-driver people out there.

Right now is the time to support primaries for any do-nothing Ds. We've got an incredible chance to win a bunch of seats in 2026. Let's fill them with fighters, not chumps.

What sticks out to me is how absolutely unafraid of prosecution this psychopath is. Part of it is narcissistic personality disorder, but it's mostly the perceived weakness of Democrats. Should they retake power, no one expects Democrats to hold anyone accountable.

People used to say, with great confidence, that variable renewables could never safely provide more than 5% of grid power. That estimate has crept up ever since, though the "great confidence" part never wavers. Anyway, about China ...

So much of American wealth is tied up in housing. And that is partly because housing scarcity makes it an appreciating asset. And in the US accumulating wealth disproportionately important for schooling and retirement and such. Thinking about what this looks like in Yimbytopia

It’s good to explain that the CDC is lying and vaccines still unequivocally do not cause autism, even if it just reaches one person on here who has doubts. But the fight is out there, not in here; and the time to let go of the information deficit model of science communication was decades ago

Could argue the misogyny Summers expressed both publicly while president of Harvard and in emails to Epstein says more about the culture at our most elite institutions than any of the frontpage freakouts over academia in the past few years but hey

I'm gonna say something controversial but... I miss cable. I miss being able to put a channel on the TV and have it change shows. Even the commercials for some reason I miss. Like im missing out on society.

Journalists face challenges in reporting on climate interventions because the science is complex and the issues are often multifaceted. But the reporting should avoid sensationalism and try to present risks proportionately, help the public understand uncertainty, and avoid oversimplification.

i’ve said this before and i remain convinced it’s true, the 2028 platform that would deliver obama 08 results is “i am gonna bring the hammer down on the corrupt self-dealing politicians and their rich friends and there are no sacred cows id give a pass”

I love the Trump apologists who are like "be careful what you wish for. If the Epstein files come out, some of your people might get caught up in it." Really, so what you're saying is we could take out even more powerful pedophiles? Fuck yeah let's roll.

“We’re afraid of walkable distances now?” I was one of the first to go after the liars & conspiracy theorists who targeted the “15 Minute Cities” message. Here’s my interview with Aussie National Radio with @greenj.bsky.social — give it a listen, and think about how we should push back on ALL lies.

Movements run on momentum. Little wins turn into an ethos and shared purpose, then bigger wins and suddenly empires fall or lives improve. If this week showed how quickly a few wins can puncture Trump's "invincibility," this is a reminder of how fast "compromise" can plunge us back into despair.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.
