This isn’t really a gotcha when Donald Trump entered the political mainstream via birtherism, as in, claiming that Barack Obama wasn’t born in the United States because he was Black. (Yes, he had a white American mother and grandparents, but racism don’t GAF)
Rally speaker: "Mike Rogers is an American. Abdul has a birth certificate. The birth certificate says he's a citizen of America. You know what? a birth certificate doesn't make you an American."

Having to clarify my previous post because no one can be a decent human being and run for office I guess
Ugh great. Well I guess it is literally only Beshear who can clear the bar in hell. (But Beshear *does* clear that bar) Also 12 year olds? They have barely started puberty! Do people really think there’s a huge gap between prepubescent boys and girls? There are still coed leagues at that age!
Also, short of kids heading to professional leagues or in contact sports, there’s no reason to separate sports by sex at lower levels. Varsity teams? Sure. But I played the lowest level of tennis my first year in HS and it was coed because none of us was good enough to compete!
Yeah, I find this so deeply offensive that it’s upsetting. It feels like a sexist excuse to pretend that boys are born superior to girls and not that testosterone creates an edge that estrogen-focused people can’t match. Until puberty, there’s no real physical difference between the sexes.

If Kentucky Democrats can have the right answer on the civil and human rights of trans people, then so can every other state’s Democrats.
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
Ok, I am at about 20% of the amount I need, and I’m going to keep trying to backfill my deficit to avoid extreme stress while I’m trying to recover from chronic illness. Let’s see how it goes.
So my grandmother passed last week and unsurprisingly, for her, did not have anything set up for her death. I am also about to enter lean times as a chronically ill person who has not recovered enough for work and yet won’t have a job as of November! So, I need 2k to bury her without burying myself.
I’ve received about 15% of the total I need. Admittedly, I pulled money from a place I couldn’t afford it and am asking to backfill, since like…time is of the essence. But it’s really important that I get this money back or my life will be extra stressed and that will set my recovery back more.

Yes, but it will be at the point where they have lost hope of salvaging the situation. Trump is the only reason any of them have been elected; they’ll let go when he no longer provides that benefit. The problem is that pain threshold is insanely high.
so... is there a market threshold that will actually get Republicans to step in? it's not 10%, it won't be 15% what about 40%? 50%? is there any answer to this question at all? my instincts say there isn't, but we're really in unprecedented territory here
The best part about being denied the opportunity to build generational wealth is how your descendants get to fundraise from strangers to afford your funeral! Just a fun little side effect of institutionalized racism.
As for my mom (who just lost her mom), we’re all rallying as many resources as possible to support her, but like, I really can’t be a good daughter and granddaughter when I am staring at a cliff of financial instability… Really wish I didn’t have to do this, but yet here I am…doing it…

Michelle Pfeiffer had to be sewn into the Catwoman suit because a zipper broke, and she really whipped the heads off of the mannequins in the shop on a single take. They kept it in.
We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.
Yet another reason atop the mountain of reasons we should have a 27 member court with randomly assigned panels of 9 justices to hear cases And this one comes with bipartisan logic!
Because four of the Justices have book contracts with a party's corporate parent, the Supreme Court LACKS A QUORUM to hear BMG v. Vetter, and one of the worst copyright decisions in recent memory is affirmed by default. It's just one bad look after another. www.supremecourt.gov/docket/docke...
1 day! I was a front desk secretary at a construction/contracting firm. My predecessor had checked me in for my interview while wearing a henley button down shirt and jeans. My coworkers greeted me in hoodies. I was fired for wearing a fashion white tee with teal slacks and a navy blazer. 🥴

27,000 New Yorkers lost their SNAP benefits due to cruel cuts from the federal government. If you’re one of them, NYC is here to help. As of October 1st, you can re-enroll for SNAP benefits. But there are new rules. Call 718-SNAP-NOW or visit nyc.gov/ACCESSHRA for help re-enrolling.
Follow up to this argument: This same court basically obliterated the Chevron rule, which means that the number of cases coming to the court is going to explode even more than it already has. A better question is: How can the court remain so small and still function?
4. Wimping out on expansion is just a way of propping up a thoroughly broken status quo. Moreover, the nation has expanded markedly since 9 justices became the norm, and yet our institutions remain stubbornly shrunken. SCOTUS should expand, but so should the House! We need a 21st century government!
What’s wild is that I am still too sick to write essays but these questions are easy enough to answer if you’ve been thinking about it for years like I have! Let’s go:
Calls for expanding #SCOTUS are entirely (and increasingly) understandable. But as today's "One First" explains, there are at least four difficult questions that those who support expansion should have to answer—especially as compared to other possible reforms: www.stevevladeck.com/p/bonus-257-...

It’s weird that the mishandling of a violent assault committed by students isn’t worthy of a full public campaign like some minor citations in his phd thesis. I thought that’s what we need to remove Ivy League presidents for, at least since Claudine Gay?
Let me rewrite that headline for you: “Cornell president who ignored gang-rape report denies responsibility, won’t apologize or resign; Says he’s “sorry” it happened” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/13/n...

I feel like a lot of people are missing the assignment here: the key isn’t that the show fell off, it’s that it makes the point of even watching the story meaningless. Westworld isn’t in this category because if you reject anything past Season 1, it is still amazing. Game of Thrones however…
What TV show got so bad it effectively destroyed your appreciation for the show when it was was good?
Children deserve to experience age-appropriate autonomy and learn how to navigate spaces on their own. Not just to help them become functional adults but also to help their childhoods flourish. If I could afford a tiny human, this is why I would raise them in NYC
Our built infrastructure robs kids of their freedom of independent mobility. Streets are dominated by oversized vehicles, piloted by aggressive and distracted drivers where one mistake can turn lethal. We sacrificed child development to subsidize the auto industry.

One reason why I *have* to move is that the roommate that lives below me plays his ukulele almost every day, loudly, and sings along, loudly I've been living here a year and a half and he has not gotten any better during this time It's not the main reason I'm moving but it's definitely one of them
So about that big fundraising push I mentioned: I gotta move the fuck out of my current living situation. I have a short term goal of $250 to help with October rent, a bigger goal of 2k to move out by mid-Nov. gofundme.com/railresurgrecov paypal.me/rikiam venmo.com/sotreu cashapp.me/$sotreu2

This is a misread of the loophole in NY law (which still has to be closed). If someone is intoxicated past the point of consent but is still conscious, then they are considered capable of consent as long as they imbibed the intoxicating substances willingly. Unconscious people still can’t consent!
