How does one have a complete lack of empathy?

As of 10:04 p.m. Eastern, the fascist tyrant in chief hasn’t bothered to make a single public statement about the mass killing of three elementary school children and their teacher in Bend, Oregon. He is the most appalling, disgusting human being alive.

Anyone on Bluesky know what kind of mushroom this is? Never seen it before. Wasatch mountains at 7000 feet. Until I know better, I’m going to call it Soccer Ball shroom, it’s almost that big. TIA

Anyone tired yet of all of the winning SCIENCE? Not me! 🔬🧬

this experimental car t-cell therapy is something. a 3-year-old boy's massive, metastatic liver cancer (that spread to lungs/bones) fully regressed after two doses. car t usually tackles blood cancers, so this for a solid tumor is a significant step, with no toxicity.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: University of Florida Scientists Develop an mRNA Cancer Vaccine That Reprograms the Immune System to Hunt Down Cancer Cells Without Genetically Engineering Immune Cells Outside the Body Led by Elias Sayour, M.D., Ph.D.

@meltart.bsky.social to continue that thought from earlier.

There has been great news for cancer treatment this week! Recall that daraxonrasib made its debut as a game changing drug that treats RAS driven pancreatic cancers. Some lung cancers are also RAS driven. Daraxonrasib has shown promise in lung cancers as well. archive.today/TCAAy

Psilocybin has also been very effective at quelling the existential dread that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Mushrooms are just not for a Grateful Dead concert anymore. FYI @meltart.bsky.social

The finding, published in the journal Science , paves the way for a treatment for one of the most painful and debilitating side effects of cancer treatment.

Another win for science. @meltart.bsky.social completely fine to get excited about this one. First of many Ras-dependent tumor types that seem likely to respond to Ras inhibitors.

Dr. Lucky Tran@luckytran.com

The FDA just approved daraxonrasib, a breakthrough drug for advanced pancreatic cancer that doubles survival time. This is huge: pancreatic cancer was once thought untreatable. The researchers received a standing ovation when they presented the trial results, unheard of at scientific conferences.

The heads of five federal agencies and the president conspired to “punish” a state because they wanted a criminal and traitor to our nation released from prison. The corruption is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. It’s time to end the madness in November.

How much more evidence does the current administration need before they realize investment in science saves lives, not to mention boosts the economy. Every $1.00 invested in research yields ~$2.60 in economic activity. It’s almost like they don’t care about either public health or the economy.

go science!

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: MIT engineers develop a breath test that detects pneumonia in minutes no X-rays, no lab wait. Just a single breath Two MIT engineers, Loza Tadesse and Aditya Garg, have developed a breath test that can detect pneumonia in minutes.

CRISPR is one of the best arguments to support basic science. Discovered a little over 10 years ago, CRISPR is a natural mechanism used by bacteria to defend against invading organisms. CRISPR has already revolutionized lab research. Medicine is next and not just cancer. Invest in SCIENCE!

I didn’t have this on my “ how to kill cancer cells “ bingo card. Pretty interesting and impactful if they are right. We must keep, and I’d argue increase, funding for cancer research. One never knows where the next big discovery will come from. @meltart.bsky.social have a look at this. 👍👏

Another win for science. why anyone would to curb all these amazing discoveries. Literally people’s lives depend on innovative studies and clinical trial just like this one. KRAS is mutated in about 50% of all human malignancy, so this is really just the beginning for this type of treatment.

Yep. These discoveries come from years of investment in science. CART and immunotherapies were the result of decades of studying the basics of immunology.

The HPV vaccine is an amazing advancement. Incredibly effective and SAFE. Every pre-teen/teen should get it. The post is heartbreaking

a particularly well written piece by HCR this morning. @hcrichardson.bsky.social. Thank you. With everything else going on, news from the Munich summit is not getting as much attention as it might otherwise and clearly deserves. open.substack.com/pub/heatherc...
