Good news: Governor Newsom signed SB 1167! Authored by Senator Catherine Blakespear and co-sponsored by CalBike, the new law draws a clear line between legal e-bikes and high-powered electric devices too often marketed as e-bikes.

Housing policy is climate policy and I’m grateful for the endorsement of an organization that really gets that. 🙏🌞

We are very proud to announce our endorsements for local Berkeley items! Vote - but also volunteer, talk to your neighbors, donate - make it happen!

we’re impressed with Robert for finding the video before we even publicized it…

Here's a question on San Pablo Ave protected bikeways at the Berkeley District 1 council candidate forum yesterday. Unfortunately all the candidates indicated they support "parallel" bikeways on side streets but not protected facilities on SPA. Lots of work to do, it seems. youtu.be/MQViCqABWTg?...

And as a reminder - here’s the video from the prior week, for districts 4 and 7!

The video from our first forum (for districts 4 and 7) is now up! Thanks again to @walkbikeberk.bsky.social and CalDems for co-hosting. Tune in Thursday at 6 for districts 1 and 8! www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4ja...

Coming soon - join our list now to get in on the ground floor! (which, being Berkeley, may be mandatory retail)

It’s election time again and like in past years, we’re there for you! We’ll be hosting online forums for each race, and also publishing questionnaires and endorsements! Make sure you’re on our mailing list: bnhca.us20.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=...

Thanks to everyone who supported safe biking along Hopkins! The plan passed 7-2! While we wait for more official records, the below is a good summary of the key motions and votes.

Berkeley City Council decision on Hopkins bikeway referral to staff: - CM Kesarwani-drafted item passes 7-2: buffered lanes Sutter to The Alameda, bikeways to Peralta, speed cushions to Stannage. Additional minor amendments made in-meeting.

In case you need a reminder, tomorrow’s Council meeting is CRITICAL and safe biking will need a lot of support - ideally in person!

Berkeley leaders will decide on an updated plan to build the long-debated bike lanes, at the expense of more than 100 parking spaces.

Not Berkeley but still sharing!

Albany's great bike/walk plan update is going to City Council for approval this Monday, July 6. But the plan's Solano Ave protected bikeway recommendation is getting a lot of pushback. Help out by emailing support comments NOW or joining the meeting on Monday! www.tinyurl.com/SolanoStreetscapeFAQ

If you want a yard sign, go to Headlands Berkeley Sunday midday! You’ll get to meet the incredibly cool @libbington.bsky.social and other great people!

Last week I had a chat with an out-of-towner who said "I've never been somewhere with so many yard signs about local issues. The only signs I see in Florida say 'for sale'!" So anyway, want another yard sign? I'll be at Headlands Berkeley from 11am-2pm handing these out on Sunday, June 14. See ya!

This is the new neighborhood association I'm helping start! We're having our first public event tonight to talk about housing in Elmwood.

Just sent out a jam packed mail! If you’re in the Elmwood area - join the community forum tonight (7 pm at the Willard Park Clubhouse)! www.wecan.city/housingforum
