So, a couple days after the PHPocolplse and the "4" TLS certificate situation, the problem is that I don't know what third parties are secure anymore and who has been breached. Like, if I have desktop software that suddenly wants to run an update, should I let it?

Most likely scenario - the software update is itself a response to the 4 situation and addresses the now-increased risk of encryption certificate forgery. Other scenario - that company was breached by PHP2Shell and is now being used as a vector to spread malware to Windows desktop computers.

The marshmallows in Lucky Charms used to be pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, green clovers, and blue diamonds. And then in '83 I remember they had a big reveal for the new Lucky Charm, and it was purple horseshoes, and I remember thinking it was the most gimmicky bullshit ever.

While I appreciate the rainbow marshmallow from a Pride perspective, multicolored marshmallows underwhelm at that scale. Like, they also have these little light green leprechaun hats with a dark green clover on it. WTF is that? And they have little pots of gold charms that are ugly and stupid.

There's also a "magical unicorn" marshmallow which I gather was designed by kids at some point? You can tell. It looks like crap, just a multi-colored blob. And "magic gems" or some bullshit. I don't even know. I do think the red balloons are OK.

I remember being angry that a cereal company would try to play us like that. And, maybe that sounds over the top, but the crazy thing is that I was right. Because ever since then its been one bullshit media gimmick from Lucky Charms after another. All at the expense of the product.

Now, forty-three years later the modern Lucky Charms marshmallow lineup is a crime against aesthetics. What had been the perfect balance of color and crunch is now a garbled mess.

But General Mills saw Lucky Charms as a kid's brand and figured they could get away with debasing the product. And it was so obvious that it was all for the sake of creating a stupid new plotline for the TV commercials.

Clearly they thought kids were too dumb to be able to see right through their schemes. And, to be fair, we were pretty dumb. Especially when watching Saturday morning cartoons while yipped out on highly-sugared cereals. But not that dumb. It was an eye-opening introduction to modern capitalism.

Like, Lucky Charms was a good enough cereal to stand on its own with out General Mills mucking about with the formula. Raisin Bran doesn't pull a "now with golden raisins" stunt. Or "now with three scoops." The fiber people would never stand for it.

If I can suck it up and vote for Chris Pappas to be the Senator from New Hampshire, even though I detest his connections to AIPAC, Michigan Democrats who love Israel can suck it up and vote for Abdul El-Sayed.

Yes. The conservative scheme for education is a three-way split: high-priced academies for the children of the wealthy, religious instruction to brainwash the middle class, and a rump of prison-like public schools to discipline the lower class into obedience.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

the other thing is that conservatives resolutely do not see the purpose of education as providing social mobility but as reifying and deepening existing inequalities of status. they are as hostile to low income students getting admission to elite institutions as they are black ones.

JD Vance makes excuses for white nationalists: "When you demonize a guy because he's white, it's just as evil as when you demonize a guy because he's Black. When you demonize a guy because he's white ... some people will get radicalized into some very dangerous ideas."

Today, another American citizen & journalist was brutalized by Israeli settlers attacking Palestinians in the West Bank. This repeated violence & brazen impunity for attacks against Americans & Palestinians alike are unacceptable. When will Trump & Rubio DO SOMETHING?

If you would try to win by abandoning trans people (or any targeted group) you can save this “we need to win” talk; there is no “we.” I am about solidarity, and you have chosen anti-solidarity. You are not any “we” I recognize. You are the enemy I’m trying to defeat. Beating you is how my “we” wins.

New Hampshire is proud to have originated the Resident-Owned Communities movement which empowers mobile home park residents to purchase the park they live in and run it as a coop. Great housing model! If your state doesn't have ROCs yet, it should.

Not something you see every day: I asked Anthony Constantino, the Republican running in #NY21, what the biggest city in his district is. He told me to ask Grok (it's Rome, population 32k).

Both the mainstream media and the gop (and dem leadership) bought into this notion that Trumps squeaker of a win over Harris was this giant sweeping mandate for conservatism and Trumpism. It never was. He won against a Democratic Party that has spent multiple decades hobbling itself. That’s it.

There shouldn't be a golf course in the middle of Washington DC. Build housing.

No Snickers bar aficionado would deign to eat an inferior "Satisfies" bar, much less a crude "Halftime" bar, but in Donald Trump's America, that's all they sell at the store.

Remember when the centrists got mad at the left for using the phrase "toxic masculinity" as if they didn't understand perfectly well what it meant? I think about that a lot.

Because there is yet again another article blaming e-bikes for cars killing people, I am once again asking why, as we are facing a climate emergency and the highest gas prices ever, every newspaper in the country has decided to whip people up in a frenzy against bikes.

Laugh at Eric Schmitt and Co. for Hawkeyes/Hawks, sure. Their screw up is funny and they deserve the mockery. But also, this was the GOP and allied media geared up to defend a coup attempt with lies and jail a prosecutor because he tried to enforce the law against a criminal. How far we've fallen.

They aren't sending their best.

Ethan Harper graduated from Harvard Law School and Andrew Ceonzo graduated George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School. Both were in their school's chapters of the Federalist Society. Their involvement (if any) in Sen. Schmitt's line of attack is unclear. I've reached out to both.
