Green Libraries Week is a great opportunity to highlight some of our sustainability measures! For example the cups and plates we use at our wellbeing events are reusable. We pop them in our dishwasher on an Eco cycle and we're good to go. We saved over 200 paper cups and plates in the last year.

It’s Green Libraries week! The Bodleian is many things to many people; a world-leading University library, an exhibition centre, even a wedding venue! But across all our services we strive to ensure we protect our planet as well as we protect our books... (1/2) Photo: Brianna Cornock.

Sir Greg Doran spoke @bodleian.ox.ac.uk @ox.ac.uk about his quest to track down every surviving copy of Shakespeare’s First Folio & how many plays were almost lost forever. In an ephemeral digital age, there is something deeply reassuring about institutions committed to stability & knowledge.

In the strange and wonderful world of symbolism on maps one of the strangest concepts has to be the all seeing eye of God. A floating and detached eye with rays of light radiating out the eye symbolizes God's omnipotence, as see on this map of Bavaria, circa 1700. #maps @bodleian.ox.ac.uk

The monoceros appears in medieval #bestiaries, alongside lions, foxes, bears and many other creatures. Bestiaries were not zoological textbooks in the modern sense. They combined observations of real animals with ancient traditions, Christian symbolism, moral lessons, folklore and mythology.

Wonderful to see so many #Postdocs at our Networking Lunch yesterday! Thanks to our speakers from across @bodleian.ox.ac.uk and to our attendees. Everyone was very positive & we heard it was useful to several new starters. I'm afraid we can't have pizza every week but we're always here to help.

We asked for photographs of your pets with their people. Here are more of the fantastic submissions! We're creating a modern record of 'Pets & their People' as part of our exhibition (which closes this Sunday - don't forget to drop in) at Weston Library.
