Good stuff. Also do watch the video embedded in the text. It's excellent.

Europe has no answer to "defending wall" narratives — on that and more Balkan history debates in my interview with Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (thank you Luisa Chiodi!!). In English and Italian (the Italian headline is nicer :) www.balcanicaucaso.org/en/cp_articl...

As cute as this was, I can't say I am surprised. This was opening a whole other can of worms that EU is not prepared to open, but probably should...

🚨 Just in: The term "associate membership" has been dropped from the EU-Canada declaration at the insistence of Germany. The concept has been replaced by a commitment to "ever closer association", @euronews.com confirms. Huge blow for Ursula von der Leyen.

The election results in Serbia are good news for the security and stability of the entire Western Balkans, as Vucic was the chief architect of virtually all major disputes in the region. That said, the Student List is a heterodox coalition. We should not expect...

The election results in Serbia are encouraging. I have been critical of the student movement before, but, for now, this is a monumental shift in Western Balkan politics. I suspect there are some very unhappy Russian and American officials. Breaks my heart ;) www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

If there were any justice in the world, every day would be #WorldWombatDay, but today is the official day to celebrate these glorious creatures that crush their enemies with their buttocks, dig burrows tens of metres long, constantly regrow their teeth, have babies called wombatlets, and poop cubes.

Good and timely.

The glorification of Ratko Mladic was an example of how, in the former Yugoslavia, ethnic identity is performed through its most provocative symbols. But nationalism thrives in the absence of a convincing political horizon. By Tihomir Loza via Transitions www.eurozine.com/serbias-grea...

America's major allies rebuke Trump and Rubio for riding to the defense of Putin and Netanyahu with vile attacks on the ICC. No one is fooled by what they are doing.

In almost every meeting I attend, when somebody asks a question, someone will say: "Let's see what ChatGPT has to say?" People's absolute delight at outsourcing their thinking to a lousy algorithm is sad and infuriating at the same time.

Trump: "The United States is working on a massive Deal with respect to the purchase of Potash from Belarus. The pricing would be for substantially less than we are currently paying to Canada, very good news for our Farmers and Ranchers. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Excellent! We once run a giant timer on the screen for questions. 30 seconds to ask your question. It worked like a charm. Also, if this is an in person event and people have lapel mics, make sure they are turned off if they decide to pop into the washroom before the session. Hard lesson, that one.

This! Even at the graduate level, it's still this.

The fallacy that University leaders pushing AI are falling into is thinking that the point of undergraduate research is to find things out. It isn't. What students find out is typically already generally known. The point of undergraduate research is to learn how to find things out.

This is amazing even if you are not an American... I learned English in Calgary, but spent next eight years in New Brunswick and then 18 in Newfoundland so apparently I sound closest to somebody from Portland, ME, Boston, which makes sense.

I am a scientist – and the answer is climate change. Yes, there is nuance. Yes, it could take a long time to identify the precise mechanisms. But there is no question why ice and snow-related disasters are on the rise. Our planet is warming at an unprecedented rate, and humans are responsible.
