@helenzaltzman.bsky.social "contentsequences" was a beautiful moment in the most recent Answer Us Back. Just needed to say this.

Things can get worse or they can get better. I prefer the latter.

@erikloomis.bsky.social Interesting stuff in here about how the protestors are coordinating with hotel staff. Reminded me of an LGM post of yours last week. www.laborpolitics.com/p/how-minnea...

@ass.golf I don't think I've ever identified with anything in QC as much as I did Claire's boat puns today.

I have been doing a lot of posts trying to get conversation going on BlueSky and to bring people here from Twitter. I haven't had a chance to talk to you all about the TPM journalism fund and why it matters. We are in the middle of our annual drive! accounts.talkingpointsmemo.com/contribute

www.nytimes.com/2024/05/28/t... This reaffirms the point I've made several times that the jobs LLMs seem best suited to are the ones we least need.

One thing I'm coming to appreciate in my attempt to engage in good faith with leftists on this platform is that they are not actually very collectivist. They don't act like they appreciate that they will need to build a huge - and therefore diverse - coalition to actually make the changes they want.
@scalzi.com Really enjoying the Starter Villain audiobook. Wil is such a perfect choice for reading your stuff. Do you ever write with him in mind?

Hi there. I have a podcast ready to launch, but podcast companies have all turned me down because the industry's in bad shape and I wanna do real reporting. I’m considering launching a membership to fund the show and I need your input. If you could please fill out this short survey. Thanks!
I've been thinking about this post a lot and, while I think Michael makes a strong case, I have some problems that I didn't see other people raise: 1. This is the big one -- lots of good people live in red states and punishing them for the sins of the assholes in Congress is bad.
They held up Hurricane Sandy funds forever because it was going to benefit a blue state. When covid hit they at first thought it was no big deal because it was hitting NJ and NY hardest. Dems need to learn how to play the prisoners dilemma against a side that always betrays.
2. Dems would be punished for this orders of magnitude more than the GOP is. Red state governors would be on Fox around the clock complaining that "the Democrat party doesn't care about real America" while the rest of the media piles on. And a big chunk of the Democratic coalition would not like it.

Although Florida's six-week abortion ban will soon take effect, Florida residents should remember that providers in blue states can prescribe and mail medication abortion straight to your door, typically in 1-5 days, at no legal risk to you. aidaccess.org
