100's of replies at this point and it's just so boring and spineless, give me a real challenge come on. Way to go, libs of bsky. You're totally not an echo chamber.

All replies so far (minus one) have proven me no one really wants to have a honest conversation, it's just a team sport and if you don't side with them they want you dead. Being hostile is not gonna prove your point.

Not voting for either is throwing your voice away entirely. The US isn't in a political reality where protest votes work. So if the two parties are identical on an issue important to you, evaluate them instead on where they differ. And to be clear: yes, absolutely free Palestine. But vote smart.

"Voting isn't marriage, it's public transport" Even if you think both options suck, you still need to pick one to get closer to your final destination, "deserving" or not.

Well there's two options. You can't get neither. Voting this year may be desperately pulling on the emergency brake on the regression rather than making progress, but you have to pull that brake. If the choice is between shitty due to inaction and actively taking your rights, that's clear imo.

I don't agree with Bernie in just voting and wishing for the best with no real proof. He's been turbo fucked by the dems since 2020 when they sabotaged his campaign.

So the alternative to "wishing for the best" is to let the fascist win, who has said he wants Netanyahu to "finish the job" of the genocide? I'd rather go with trying. Not to mention what's at stake for trans and other marginalized folks in this country, whom we shouldn't throw under the bus.

That's not what voting is, and if there's a non-voting method that frees Palestine that *works* you would've done it by now, or would be doing that instead of whining online about all you're not currently doing.

Yes, both support Israel, but one also supports covert genocide against queer people, and immigrants, and wants women's rights to be rolled back decades. I'm sure it's nice to be in a privileged enough position for those to not affect you, but sticking your head in the sand like this is just selfish

Kamala Harris and the dems don't give a fuck about trans people either. When asked about it she literally said "I support each states laws" so if a state passes an anti trans build SHE'S NOT GONNA DO SHIT.

You aren't making a grand statement noone understands. Guessing by your simple take you like superheroes. Theres a boat full of hostages that will die if you don't save them. Or you can go tell the bad guy you don't approve of him, which he will ignore. (third party) Which does the hero pick?

Oh yeah everything is the trolley problem. The entire point of the trolley problem is analysing your morals. And your morals suck. Keep hallucinating that there's a way out of this, there's not.

People will literally see "Woman president or convicted felon president" and either act like it's a tough decision or choose the felon. Humanity is weird.

Brazil is weird as well We had to choose between a former economy minister who was a professor in one of the country's most renowned colleges and a former military captain who was discharged from service for misconduct and then became a congressman who did nothing for 27 years Tough choice

Eh… it depends on what the felony is for. There’s a wide gulf between murder and punching someone at a post office. But If you were declared innocent or you’ve done your time I’m not going to hold it against you unless it’s really bad. Trump has done neither.

Counterpoint: Yes, they should. One example for why: Lots of convicted felons are Blank people who got convicted because they exist in a racist society in an unfair fascistoid justice system.

"I'm privileged enough to not care about Trump's war on every kind of minority, so will allow trans people, or gay people, or immigrants, or women, to suffer needlessly for years to prove I'm somehow morally superior to someone who doesn't do that"

Hey, guess what trans people think about how you should vote? Are your feelings and moral pompousness more important than their lives?

(from Evan) Here's what I've been hearing from the trans community, from organizers to journalists to random folks: If Trump wins, many of us won't make it. GTFO of the fucking country, don't trust blue states. If Harris wins, we'll have long fight on our hands, but at least we'll have a fight.

“When the only choice is between more genocide and less genocide, refusing to choose is self-centered virtue signaling guaranteed to have no effect at all in a brokered first-past-the-post election.” You don’t have a good choice. It’s not available to you. This is a material condition.

Yeah sign theft is the kind of thing you can expect when you try to get a felon elected president... But didn't worry the Trump supporters doing it have signs that say "Trump safety, Harris crime." With out a hint of irony, cause Fox news won't tell them what irony is.

Near him is a small stone frog. As a surprise a friend left us another small frog. One day I found 3 of them gathered there together: the 3rd was real. It disrupted all my beliefs about Nature and my sense that there must be 10 ways a real frog could tell they were not kindred creatures. Art!

There is actual footage of AOC and Tim Walz playing video games together on Twitch and it warms my heart. The guy seemed so genuine and chill. When a politician doesn't give you the vibe of some eldritch creature wearing a human suit, you know you have a keeper.

No thanks, not a huge Trump fan but also not voting for the dumb twat Kamala. She’s a snake, if she wins just watch her run the country farther into the ground than that the old clown Biden did.

Republickkkans after looking at every XKCD comic about science, global warming, biology, women & girl characters being really well educated & knowledgeable in their scientific & mathematical fields: when did XKCD get so political?? 🤪

I instinctively scrolled down and as I did, wondered why I was feeling weird. I realized I did that out of habit to find the hate speech and Nazis. To know thine enemy and get a small rage high. But I didn’t get it, since the comments are normal. …goddammit I might actually like Bluesky.

I remember the time you did this for Hillary for president. Harris has sent incredibly large amounts of persons of color to prison for possession charges defended corrupt cops and deny transition medicine. And supports the horrors going on in the Middle East

Yep! She’s a bad person. She’s also the least bad of two mandatory options. Refusing to choose between a shit sandwich and a booger sandwich when you’re gonna be force-fed one of them is masturbation. She should have done better. She didn’t. This is what we got. Womp.

For context. In my ttrp setting and larp playbook. Furries ( presented in a grity middle earth scifi setting ) are found to be in every configuration, centaurn w/wo hooves and to be clear not supper funny ones like bug and bear, but 2legs 4legs, Mans Face. Multianimals are "mockeries" not taurn.

Notice that this isn't an xkcd strip, it's explicitly separate from them, and lives at the top of the site, in the title banner. So, it's very much a statement.

its nuts to think this election cycle there isnt a single person who i would count as a "good person" that hasnt said this. im so used to a few breaking and going for the other side but this year its been pure lock step. she may not be the best candidate but i hope she wins.

I'm dreading Nov. 5th. It really just baffels me. Donald Trump has worked with some of modern day's worst despots, demanded recounts on the votes because he couldn't take losing, and has even been arrested for various crimes, and people STILL WANT THIS GUY IN OFFICE!?! How!? F@$%ing how!?

So, you're throwing away your vote on a grifter who will sell you on promises she knows she never has to deliver while knowingly working in Russia's interest to keep Mango Mussolini in office. And you're saying that publicly? Do you have a humiliation fetish? There are easier ways to satisfy that.

While there isn’t a statistically perfect voting system that can be proven to make the most people happy all the time, our current system sure is down towards the bottom of the options. I don’t think that I’ve ever voted for someone for president, I’ve only ever voted against someone worse.

Yeah, you don't argue on the internet to change the mind of the person you're arguing with. You argue on the internet to make sure that people who don't know for sure see the opposite argument.

In all fairness, I had that mindset in 2016 and voted for Jill Stein myself because I was angry and bitter over how the DNC treated Bernie. But I matured in the years after and realized that the fight for a true American left can only be won at the local level, not on the national stage.

It's a bit strange that my parents tell me the same, but for the opposite candidate. Does that mean I'd be voting for both and neither at the same time? Schrödinger's vote?

There's no contradiction and no ambiguity. In the FTTP system, if you vote for a non-viable candidate (Stein), that vote is effectively taken from whichever viable candidate you'd prefer (Trump or Harris). If you'd choose Trump over Harris, then your Stein vote disadvantages Trump. And vice versa.

Third parties should run for Congress in "safe" states and influence policy changes rather than put everything in the WH basket. It makes no sense, setting sside how many elections since 1960 have focused around the war powers. Unfortunately, Stein has cut downballot funding to enrich herself.

People are also legally allowed to go around with a full diaper and sneak into bear dens and give them hugs but that doesn't mean either is a good idea. Sometimes making a statement should be put on the backburner to logical, immediate survival and the safety of marginalized groups and citizens.

If you or @kamalahq #KKKamala cared about American democracy, you wouldn't be risking it in order to continue to force US taxpayers to fund and cover-for massively-unpopular white-supremacist Zionist colonial genocide. QED. DNC corporatists are just fascists with crocodile tears, part a billion.

@kamalahq is risking the election of 45 in order to continue to force US taxpayers to fund and cover-for massively-unpopular white-supremacist Zionist colonial genocide. If you need that explained, you shouldn't have a vote.

Also, advising people against voting is silencing trans voices and condemning them to the worst of two bad outcomes. If you won’t hold your nose and vote to save a few thousand trans lives, you’re a piece of shit, and the enemy of any equitable or just politics.

I retesting that you’re whining about democracy while positing the idea that people who don’t think like you shouldn’t be allowed to vote, showing that you do not yourself value democracy, which makes everything you’ve said a giant fart noise. Material analysis, dipshit: learn it.

This isn’t an answer to what I asked. I don’t disagree with it, but it is not an explanation of how voting for her will undermine democracy, because all that is already happening and will continue to. You have also not presented an alternative, so what you’re advising is to do nothing. Complicity.

Explain how you do "more genocide" than #KKKamala 's existing "unrestricted genocide for which she is risking American democracy". Of course, we both know that, if you could, you'd have done so already.

I mean - Kamala did say she was seeking to end the war in Gaza and secure the people of Gaza a place where they can live freely. Conversely, Trump has praised Netanyahu and said he should go further "finish the problem" in Gaza.

It'd be nice if the third party people hadn't been brainwashed into helping the bad guys like a possessed person in a horror movie. They are basically the deadites from Evil Dead at this point.

I wonder how this moral righteousness will affect trans people. Let’s ask! Oh look. Moral self-righteousness turns out, once again, to not be fucking good enough. Vote, asshole.

I find it near-impossible to hammer in posts already attached to a sign without tearing the sign from the posts. So I’d drive in the posts using a pounder (heavy pipe with handles & a cap at one end) then attach the sign using Robertson screws since I put up election signs in Canada.
