Signed up for AMC Stubs just to use theaters for their A/C 💀. This latest San Diego heatwave has me getting creative about how to avoid being home (no A/C). Heading into Resident Evil. Will report back…

Thank you to everyone who has read it, hyped me up, put it in other people's faces, reviewed it & all the things. I don't read reviews much but the chief complaint is that people wished it was longer 😂. I can live w/ that. I promise longer work is in progress and I am also not done w/ my boys yet.

Three years ago (holy shit where does the time go!!) I got to introduce this world and these characters into the SFF ecosystem. I still admire the cover art constantly tbh. Could not be more grateful to @neonhemlock.bsky.social and @completelycathy.bsky.social www.neonhemlock.com/books/a-nece...

Pleased to gift you with more phenomenal work from our very own @brentclambert.bsky.social 🔥🔥🔥 Scoop the Forged in FIYAH anthology today for this and more Black SFF from some of today's finest voices!

The Forged in FIYAH anthology is SO proud to share fave lines from "We Got Options," an original story brought to you by @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social founding member and OG, @brentclambert.bsky.social!

My first story set in my home of San Diego! The inspiration for this was a Twitter post I saw from a white pagan years ago who said with all seriousness “you can’t accuse me of oppression because I was a Black slave in a past life”.

Still reading my ARC of this, but fuck damn I'm enjoying it! The texture of the world, the sense of history imbuing everything, the genuinely fresh cosmology and magic system...and that's just the *backdrop* for two EXTREMELY compelling viewpoint characters and a page-turner plot!

I'm 10% into GODBURNED by @fozmeadows.bsky.social and this book is EXACTLY MY SHIT!! In a world where some of the popular fantasy stuff seems to be skimping on making the worlds intricate, this book is so-lived in from the very first chapter and refuses to coddle you. I love it! Pre-order folks

The inspiration for the story started from the most WILD ASS twitter post I personally ever saw

Emmalia H@emmaliawrites.bsky.social

I read @brentclambert.bsky.social's We Got Options from @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social's Forged in FIYAH! anthology. It begins by skewering "progressive" microagressions, before morphing into (spoilers!)

THE CITY IN GLASS lives up to its name because some of its prose stabs into you like sharp glass. I'm going to say WELCOME TO FOREVER by Nathan Tavares. What that book does with memory and the unreliability of the narrator is some of the most modern cyberpunk stuff ever.

This book basically scratches every item I look for in secondary world fantasy. It’s expansive while being extremely intimate, the divine = horrors untold and its atmosphere delivers.

I see it is time for a reboost for this novel, coming January 2027.

THE FLOWER COURT a sapphic romantic fantasy in which a clever young scribe infiltrates the imperial consort quarters to search for a missing noblewoman, only to find herself forced to work with the Dowager Empress’s loveliest & most condescending servant Preorder: us.macmillan.com/books/978125....

Due to some generosity from a friend, I will be at Worldcon this year! Not on panels or anything so I'll just be vibing lol. Haven't really been around my writing community much lately so it would be nice to see some of you 😁

The most common thing I hear about my stories is that people wish they were longer lol. So I'd like to have a novel out.

Where do you see your writing career in five years? I really really hope there’s a published novel in my future—way sooner than five years #writingq #WritingCommunity

This book really really does a great job illustrating just how horrifying and destructive to the idea of reality itself that a divine global conflict would be. Psychopomps without purpose, cities warped into illusionary wastelands, people losing entire concepts of being. Yeesh!

Brent C. Lambert@brentclambert.bsky.social

About 200 pages into THE BROKEN GOD and Guerdon’s world still remains one of my favorite modern fantasy settings. @mytholder.bsky.social sits right up there with Max Gladstone and Foz Meadows for me in getting how to infuse the weird into the epic.

And poor Carillon. The girl killed one god and now has the rest of the pantheon on her ASS. All she currently has for an ally is a hollowed out, drug abusing sorcerer who also happens to hate her too.

I've been a slow reader lately but I just wrapped this book up and I stand by my statement. I know the Council of Queens is a little nuts but I stan them and their nation as a whole. The Shavaktiin are such a neat concept as well.

Brent C. Lambert@brentclambert.bsky.social

Not even 100 pages into AN ACCIDENT OF STARS by @fozmeadows.bsky.social and I’m already sure of my opinion that this book is one of the great modern portal fantasies.

Lets make reading and talking about stuff that didn't come out in the last couple of years more of a thing too! I use to feel "behind" discussing stuff that wasn't necessarily current but that's an absurd feeling to have and does no service to the author.

Found myself in a writing rhythm I would have normally been frustrated with but has actually been more pleasant than expected. 15 minutes of reading, 100 words on the draft on repeat for the past couple of hours has actually been really effective

Mamdani has demonstrated something that Democrats have largely forgotten. You can't just do good things for voters and expect to be rewarded for it. You have to tell them about it, over and over again. You have to advertise your work in office just as much as you did on the campaign to win it.

When we took office, NYC had a $12B deficit. Today it’s zero. And we didn’t close that gap on the backs of working people. We closed it while funding parks, libraries, safer streets, & public housing. Call it Pothole Politics or Democratic Socialism: We are government that delivers for the people.

The past 10 months have just been a STRUGGLE trying to reignite the joy and spark in writing. I'm happy to report I think that flame is flickering again. Maybe, maybe it'll find its way to build up to a blaze.
