It was an honor to perform this very chilling and poetically rendered story. "Foreign Objects" alludes to atrocities committed by the US military in Vieques, Puerto Rico. How beautiful to render it this way, with our many voices.
a wonderful editorial from @subhapa.bsky.social to finish our Indigenous Rights spotlight:
"one common question stands out for me: Who gets to decide? While recognition as an Indigenous people is a critical first step for any Indigenous community, it does not always translate to decision-making."

I am infinitely honored to be a @stelliform.press author. Latine authors make up less than 5% of the publishing industry. Publishers like Stelliform platform our stories. In a time of government sanctioned kidnappings & horrific violence against our community, our stories matter more than ever.
CACIQUES is a novella about the future of Puerto Rico. It blueprints what a liberated Borikén might look like, a future where are beaches are own and water is abundant rather than rationed. When Afro-Indigenous heritage is centered rather than rejected. CACIQUES is our future return to ourselves.

The best way to support authors you love is to preorder their books. If that isn't an option for you financially, reach out to your local library expressing interest in forthcoming titles. For indie and smaller presses, sales keep the publisher's doors open.
Dearest WorldConers. I'm kicking off the con with my first-ever reading of CACIQUES - my next Indigenous futurism novella set in Borikén (Puerto Rico). Come by San Simeon B (Hilton) at 12:00! I'll be at Worldcon next weekend celebrating selling a short ecofiction collection to @thefabulist.bsky.social! I'm moderating a panel of Latinx folks talking about their creative struggles. And they put me on this panel about mushrooms. Hope they know what they're getting themselves into

In 2022, I wrote a bizarre, near-future scifi western story called "Scelerat" reacting to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the launch of ChatGPT + a fragment of a trippy dream that someone shared w/ me. Interzone just published it! shop.interzone.press/b/h2rDl
Sometimes science fiction can predict aspects of the future. In the case of my story "Scelerat", what rings perhaps more true than when I wrote it is the mounting energy crisis associated w/ AI. In this near-future scenario, nuclear reactors used to power 🤖 fail, turning much of 🇺🇸 into failed states

So.
I can announce it now.
I have a CNF piece in Bloodclot Zine's Revolution issue, titled, "My Black Past, My Black Present, My Black Future." It centers primarily around, but not only, a pivotal moment in my life: being the witness to my Uncle Bobby's (Herman Liburd's) passing.

June is Men's Mental Health Month, so I've just donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, as it's a cause that's very important to me. People often go through silent struggles so check up on your friends and loved ones, offer a helping hand, a warm hello. Much love!

@boriscrito.bsky.social Just read your short story, Schismogenesis. Incredible story - powerful, authorative, & unique! I can't think of anything to compare it to but it reminds me of how I felt when I first read Peter Watts' 'Blindsight', or Alfred Bester's 'Demolished Man'. Keep it up!

Inspired by a visit to Haw Par Villa in Singapore, "Schismogenesis" is #sciencefiction that looks down the unsettling path that the infamous He Jiankui dared to tread. It's also an origin story for Garuda 🧬🪽: a recurring character in the Condeverse who appears in SORDIDEZ & its sequels. 📸: mine.
Happy May Day, everyone. Here's to another year of draining the power out of capitalism and filling all the workers' cups equally. (Do not actually drink raw, untreated capitalism. Please boil and filter it first.)

When I was a boy I devoured a lot of #sciencefiction 🤓. In those pages I learned that anything is possible if only you have the creativity to dream it into being. AnalogSF magazine was one of those inspirations. It is beyond surreal to see my words and byline in its May/June issue! 😭😫 The story 🧵
"Schismogenesis" is about an Antillean-Singaporean scientist whose fraught sense of belonging set them down a path to realizing a borderless world. It's also an origin story for a side character in SORDIDEZ & other stories in my Condéverse named "Garuda" 🪽🧬🥼 #scifiwww.analogsf.com/current-issu...
