Eric Bauza did like 70% of the dialogue in "The Day The Earth Blew Up" and it's the world's longest platonic Looney Tune
Coyote v Acme had a lotta people saying how good The Day The Earth Blew Up was. And they were right! 1000x more enjoyable for me than like, the Mario movie. Perfect and underserved tone for young elementary kids, & great that middle school kids who want to learn animation have a recent A+ case study

Unbelievable loss. An amazing talent, and just a really, really good person. www.instagram.com/p/De8RFy4pyov/
I do get stumped by this sometimes -- like the fish asking "what's water" -- and the cheat code is to pick the things your kids would be thrilled to hear you describe them as
A thing about being a parent is you have to describe your kid to other adults a lot, and your kid is constantly changing in ways that surprise you.
interesting. bsky-the-app doesn't actually disambiguate between "tag" and "[octo]tag" when you click on the website pds.ls/at://did:plc... pds.ls/at://did:plc...
i am still at 100% but that's because my coding (which, i finally am doing again after a months-long break) is for me to learn with. it's the "do the reading (incl problem sets)" of the classic three-legged stool of "go to lecture, go to discussion, do the reading."
Do you still write more than 20% of code by hand?
I am posting from a new python script that looks an awful lot like my existing bot scripts. I can link to websites just like always
i stopped using scala 10+ years ago (unsupported at google) and i am surprised at how well it compares here to golang. (on everything but compile time at least; scala underperforming there is not a surprise.)
The first independent benchmark featuring Goose is out, making it 42% faster than the next fastest languages (C and Rust) across 50 real world inspired tasks: kostya.github.io/LangArena/#/...
We're moving in Nov, so I'm back on high-volume FB Marketplace posting. And it's tempting to try out the Muse agent for it, but on any individual listing, it's not THAT much work to reply on my own. If they had a gentle supervised onboarding, "here's what Muse would say now, click ok?" I'd try that.

California should choose the sun. @xavierbecerra.bsky.social has proposed Power Hour, providing two free hours of electricity to households in the middle of the day. Wrote about how this would benefit California families and our grid for @latimes.com. ☀️⬇️
#ReaderBot: Brian has 11 books left on his reading list. He should finish them all by Jun 13, 2027. [Brian's Reading List]
a) that movie was insane b) the people saying "see it with a big audience" are right, and im glad there was a big audience at this noon-monday showing c) the people saying "synedoche, ny" is the comp are right d) there were several moments i wanted to stand up and scream, that movie was insane
Our Alamo has a 12:30 matinee showing tomorrow, which is 3 hrs after I get my flurona boosters. I'm gonna!

I’m about to watch You Can See Everything (2026) at an Alamo Drafthouse, which means I’m also having a pizza, wings, and at least one Lagunitas. Is this the best moment of my life? Listen, it could be.
this article points to this study that affirms that homebuyers work backwards from the monthly payment they can afford. reducing property taxes means that slice of payment can go to a bigger mortgage, which increases price bids (and down payment required) www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.1...

just like @maxread.info 's successful prediction of "they're going to start actively encouraging smoking again," we're going to see a full reversal on "stay in school." they're going to start encouraging dropping out of high school.
i get what they're doing, it's edpol, they are hating on the knowledge industry nerd who has never once owned a car dealership or dental supply passthrough corp. it just seems out of whack that this is (a) from the *college* republicans (b) speaking *french*.
don't know how to word with without the tone of competitiveness, but you can absolutely buy cali pols, too. i haven't price shopped it but they're available.
