That scene where the comic book villain addresses the United Nations has finally come true.
This is also why Totalitarian Architecture exists as a style, and why Trump’s ballroom looks just like what Hitler and Stalin built—there is no creativity, complexity, or freedom of expression. It is just a simplistic representation of power and self-aggrandizement.
More specifically, they’re literal-minded failed artists. No sense of needing to understand art beyond text. No patience for trying to figure out the meaning of a work of art. They want to force-feed reassurances of their own worldviews down the gullets of like-minded others.
Was at a bar wearing my “one day we will wake up to his obituary” shirt and the bartender told me they plan to give away top-shelf liquor beverages when it happens. Told him we’re buying a case of champagne to give away to cyclists since we live on a greenway. Portland’s gonna rock out.
I hope It Happens on an airplane and I get to tell the pilots.

It is long past the time for a national general strike. 'This is not a government by consent of the governed. It is oppression.
I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.
WSJ is basically like “ADHD meds aren’t a magic bullet and there isn’t an endless supply of experienced child psychiatrists in every location” so you’re better off just saying “fuck it” and not treating because really their thesis is “meds are bad.”
trying to start a moral panic and the stories are all like “the ADHD meds really helped but didn’t solve everything”
He bought “Stock Investing for Dummies” and “Bitcoin for Dummies!” This dummy was a genius money manager for billionaires? I’ve got questions about what services he actually provided given his dummy-level expertise in investing.

@wyden.senate.gov and @jeff-merkley.bsky.social —I really hope my Senators are leading the charge to not cave right now 🐸🐸
You have no idea how many revolutionaries we can fit in our SUVs and minivans. They’re the clown cars of fucking shit up.
As a suburban soccer mom, I can tell you that quite a few of the even moderately left suburban soccer moms you know are pissed off, amazing at multi-tasking and organizing, and ready to fight
It’s like the NYT likes to put their work through the ol’ ratio machine anytime they write about Trump’s crime-ing. Turn the handle and watch the easily torchable “legally disputed” replies come out!
The Trump administration is engaged in an unprecedented legally disputed campaign of bombing suspected drug smuggling vessels from the air. We are tracking the offensive here. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Banning trans people from owning guns is a really REALLY significant escalation and I think the scariest part about it that's not being discussed at all is that the plan is to declare that trans people are mentally ill Moreover, ICE must be destroyed edition.cnn.com/2025/09/04/p...
What do we throw in Boston Harbor this time around? Please say it’s not coffee.
The Supreme Court is out of control. To allow the president, without any explanation, to unilaterally dismantle agencies created by an Act of Congress is to endow the president with sovereignty. There is no justification, because they haven’t given one. Our country is in big trouble.
When I was in high school this town had a cross-country course so rural they needed to spray paint the cow pies, and now they have a No Kings and that’s a hell of a change.

No one went to his party because Portland had one with pom-poms, a marching band, clowns, and people who aren’t pieces of shit that is everyone cool was at.
When you spend $45 million of other people's money on your dictator chic birthday and it's still worse than a roadside Taco Bell value-package party.
It’s the sacrifice we’ll have to make to get Elon Musk off this planet.

No formal process in the Constitution or Senate Rules to replace a Minority Leader. It’s in caucus rules: www.democrats.senate.gov/rules-for-th... At least 20 Senators must can call a meeting. Someone nominates a candidate. Senators cast a secret ballot. Vote of no confidence may precede nomination.
