I contributed a few of the entries, including this little nugget about Napoleon Street in central Sydney – a big name for a little street. Bonne découverte! 🗃️

History 101 and why history is a revisionist discipline. The letter below is why archives are selective. It’s survived because somebody decided to keep the evidence. Even as late as the 1970s, it was seen as too incendiary. A deliberate murder by Police of Aboriginal prisoners in the 1890s.

Staff and students at the University of Sydney are on strike again today. This is just one of nine picketed entrances. Fighting for decent learning, teaching, researching, and general working conditions for human beings. Solidarity ✊

On this day (22 October) in 1844 French actress Sarah Bernhardt was born in Paris. In 1913 Bernhardt donned a bicorne hat and performed in a play at California's San Quentin State Prison. The play – about the French Revolution and written by her son – delighted the inmates (Marin History Museum) 🗃️

I have NEVER seen a BoM extreme (chance of top 20% of all years) maximum temperature outlook with numbers as high as this. And this is for summer 2026-27. Crikey. Sydney with a shocking high chance of extremes - watch out in the western suburbs. Can’t rule out 50C www.bom.gov.au/climate/outl...
