Many years ago (before ChatGPT/DALL-E) @kylec.bsky.social and I were on a panel about misinformation, and we got a question about deepfakes. At the time, I said “deepfake videos worry me less than an AP photo of a riot, stripped of a caption, claiming to be live from a protest.”

Even as the deepfaking has gotten more sophisticated, the rule of “know who took the photo” can stop you from falling for 99% of them. Citing your sources is always good, but it’s also the baseline for fighting disinformation.

Loser behavior from a guy who’s clinging like a shriveled old barnacle to a sport he doesn’t actually care about in a desperate bid for relevance. Do not cede one inch to him or anyone who acts this way.

Much as I hate to give Kanter the time, nobody here will support him anyway. Sky players kept Tasha away from him

An epidemic in New Mexico, from otherwise stalwart organizations and small businesses. There are so many artists here! There needs to be an intervention mode on Canva that will interrupt someone trying to design a poster and give them the numbers of 10 local designers who will do it for $200.

ChatGPT posters and flyers are polluting real life and driving me insane. Please respond to this with the worst ones you've seen irl. I'll post some in the thread www.404media.co/we-are-livin...

SCOOP: So remember Dialog, Peter Thiel's private society that doesn't have a public website and no public list of members? I (along with a number of other journalists) have just been tipped off that embedded in the code of their closed off website there IS what seems to be a list of some members.

The gambling economy has a familiar rule: The house always wins. @hadasthier.bsky.social writes, a Bloomberg analysis found that most profits on Polymarket went to a tiny slice of accounts that appeared to be automated bots. Everyone else lost $131 million in aggregate.

Nearly 20 years ago (?!) I ran the second panel through a rasterizer and used the copiers at the Rocky Mountain News (RIP) to print all like 30 pages. Just to hang in my apartment because I had no other idea how to decorate. I painted over the pixels with tempera and just … hung it up. Sluggomaxxing

"After being held in isolation for about five days. Rodríguez was forced to strip naked in a shower while an officer "poured some kind of chemical liquid on her head, which seemed to be something used to clean floors and burned her eyes,” the filing read."

NEW — An obscure Navy contractor program is making Trump’s plans to quickly build out and supply immigrant concentration camps around the country a reality. Here I explain WEXMAC TITUS, an acronym you need to understand:

A few days ago, Fox News was whining about ICE agents getting heckled at a Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis. Meanwhile, in the town of Willmar, ICE agents had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, waited until it closed, then confronted and arrested three workers as they left.
