Those arguing for mass-adoption of AI art always seem intent on proving the wrong thing; that AI tech will change beyond all recognition. They seem less inclined to prove their argument's much wilder claim; that human nature, and all previous modes of taste, emotion and investment, will change too.

I need younger generations to understand how weird it is that trump is such a unique terrible fuck up that it’s actually correct to blame the president for a demonstrably shittier economy and costs

Technology being everywhere doesn’t mean it belongs everywhere. The tech industry wants us to believe that AI in early education is not only inevitable, but necessary. We don't see it that way. This week, we announced a moratorium on generative AI for public school students in 2-K to 8th grade.

as a texan there's a big difference between the semi acceptable Bible-As-History suggested here vs. what is going to be implemented, which is Bible-Is-History. Our kids will fail their history tests if they don't do standardized rote memorization of biblical stories as if they happened

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

Writing a longer bit on this, but the problem with (let’s be honest: pretextually) teaching the Bible as history is that you have to teach it AS HISTORY. And lots of the bog standard historical consensus on the Bible, routine college intro fodder, would be absolutely incendiary in a middle school.

Not that it excuses it, but does explain the Colorado governors’ sweetheart treatment of that election denier

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

Another day, another impeachable offense: The White House ordered federal agencies to block resources to Colorado because it had punished an election denier. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/14/u...

“I stopped talking to my therapist. I felt like I was ranting like a lunatic and he was listening politely and asking me, ‘Is the bad man in the room with you right now?’” On how 21st century fascists make you sound crazy: badfaithtimes.com/they-make-yo...

badfaithtimes.comThe Fascists Are Making You Sound CrazyYou will appear to be a complete lunatic if you explain the political realities of competitive authoritarianism.

one of the defining characteristics of modern conservativism is not being assed to do anything for anyone, ever, which extends to their own idols!

I don’t think these fascists have the juice for a Horst Wessel moment. If it didn’t happen after Charlie Kirk it’s never gonna happen.

Tomorrow: “we halted all special operations, but our indiscriminate bombing of southern Lebanon is usual course of business, definitely not stopping that”

Reports in Israel: 'The United States has demanded that Israel refrain from taking any unusual actions in southern Lebanon. Accordingly, the political echelon has instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to halt all operations considered sensitive in southern Lebanon.'

Centrist Americans being mystified by Kier Starmer's unpopularity despite him doing everything they're always telling Democrats to do is so funny. Just the biggest dumbasses around.
