Oh well. The original post by @ianbremmer.com was deleted. It was an image of a housing tract next to a data center. Even if the image was not accurate, Evan's image is still quite relevant today, in my opinion.

Why is it never the cruelty that changes people’s minds???? So it’s fine to mindlessly detain, neglect and kill immigrants but damn if the price of gas goes up, that’s it!
1 in 5 Americans who voted for Trump in 2024 now regret their choice. His approval just hit a new low: 33%. Affordability. Iran. Corruption. Take your pick. Buyer's remorse is a start. Voting is the cure. 32 days.
Super excited for my next #photography course, The Book: As an Object & As an Idea at the Penumbra Foundation.
People in the #leica world know DAG and YYe, for repairs of older cameras. It's not a growing discipline, unfortunately. Here's a nice profile I recently found of YYe: vimeo.com/710119524?sh...
Humans are doing to humans with AI what humans have always done to animals: treat them as expendable to satisfy their unquenchable thirst for dominance over everything. Society didn't heed the warnings over climate change so I doubt these warnings will have any impact.
Have we seriously reached the point where “there’s a greater than 10% chance this kills everybody” isn’t a stop sign, it’s merely a business risk? www.forbes.com/sites/siladi...

NEW: A series of issues in Apple’s web browser engine — the tech underlying all browsers on iOS — means that Apple’s iCloud Private Relay tool, which is supposed to hide a user’s IP address, in many cases doesn’t actually work. In fact, its exposing users' real IP addresses.
The only funerals I've ever watched were of Irish people: Heaney, MacGowan, Hansard. A certain beauty in their people , poetry and music.

Nice overview of Atmosphere. Some concepts, like "Let's say an app stops serving you...A competitor will emerge and you can just start using that app instead" are unrealistic at the moment, but it's early days!
absolutely brilliant
After laying out his “plan” for the officials before him, he revealed that it was all satire in protest of Flock. “I would never do this to you,” he said to the council. “Could I? Probably. But I wouldn't because it's wrong.“ Read @samleecole.bsky.social story: www.404media.co/casa-grande-...

“They didn't understand it was satire in the beginning until the end,” Casa Grande, Arizona resident Jacob Petrosky told 404 Media. “They were not happy, they were very upset.”
I hadn't intended to take any #photography classes over the summer, but couldn't pass up Janelle Lynch's "Creating Beyond Convention I with Alex Yudzon" I studied with Janelle earlier this year and it was really impactful.
Park Chan-wook's #photography exhibition. Love it when movie people are still-photography people, too. He carries a #Leica camera with him everywhere he goes and doesn't really connect filmmaking to his photography. To him they represents polar opposites between the created world and found world.

Rose of Nevada is very much my kind of movie. It felt like it could have been a sequence of still photos within its 24FPS. Really beautifully shot on 16mm (though we saw it DCP) in a tightly wound story, relying on story and what you can do with camera and audio to evoke its emotions. 📽️
