Even struggling with trumps everyday callousness, it's shocking to hear hegseths barely-concealed glee at the deaths in Iran and throughout the Middle East. He yacks like a pre-pubescent teen about raining death onto Iran. The man is an embarrassment, a poster boy for the banality of evil.

Hegseth's brand of Christianity must be based on these principles: kill lots of people; brag about killing lots of people; promise to kill lots more people; brag about having zero compassion. Jesus wept.

Hegseth never heard the maxim: Pride goes before the fall. Perhaps he should dial his ego back a few degrees and think about how the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iranians are profoundly upended.
