I need to practice making things for people on a deadline but man, any time something feels like an obligation I freeze up and start physically aching instead

I wish it was socially acceptable to tell a dietitian "hey, I wanna be healthy obviously but I also wanna stay fat while doing it if possible". It's not even a kink thing, I just don't like feeling too thin and bony

youtube on my TV knows i really like these fucking videos where someone makes a game soundtrack for a game that could never exist and also is completely absurd so occasionally my TV starts producing the most beautifully composed sounds ever and i turn around and its just this

At this point I'm seriously considering never making anything of note, since y'all seemingly can't help but turn trans creatives into "discourse"

"Adopt AI or get left behind!" is a funny thing to say to me, a person who's always finding an excuse to exhume some bullshit DOS complier to make purposefully antiquated programs on hardware old enough to have a midlife crisis

Apparently EDF5 got put onto Switch 2 recently while I wasn't looking? Weird that it's not 6 or some other entry but oh well. I'd say "grab it" but I don't know if it's a good port yet. However, you should always grab EDF on other platforms. www.nintendo.com/us/store/pro...

Me when I was 11: "I think all turn-based games should be like Paper Mario and require you to time your attacks!" Me now that I'm 31: "Ugh... I just want a turn-based game where you can take your time and not have to time anything"

I love seeing all the developments on the concept of an eInk Game Boy honestly. I don't care about the practicality of it or whatever else, it's really cool to see and gives off those same vibes that made me love the demoscene

In the Japanese PC-88 port of Ultima 3: Exodus by Pony Canyon, if you try to Talk/Transact (T key) to an enemy monster, they literally say "FUCK YOU!!" in English. Hilarious, and apparently nobody has discovered or posted about this before online in English or Japanese

UPDATE: After some preliminary tests, I don't think it's worth pursuing. Automatic palettization loves to make everything either too dark or too bright, therefore not using the palette to its full potential. If I ever finish the project therefore, it's going to be all hand-done.

I'm considering automating that one EGA Doom sprite project I've got going on... NOT using genAI. I'm gonna try using a custom Python script to automatically color the areas I specify using some palette ranges. If it doesn't look good, I'll edit the results. If it's unsalvagable, I'll abandon it.

I wondered where this resonant synth riff sample originated from because I kept hearing it in various games released around the turn of the millennium. It's from a Sonic Foundy sample CD from 1996

Grab your quarters (or reloadable game cards), because we're headed to the arcade to show off scary light gun games TONIGHT at 7pm CT! Excited to shoot some skeletons, bats, and other creatures of the night! twitch.tv/retropals

REALLY happy they brought back this Sprite flavor, even if it's a different label than I remember. I used to work at a comic shop back in the 2010s and I'd always get it at the nearby convenience store, so it's very nostalgic for me

Every day we come just the tiniest bit closer to Rhythm Climber being real

Universal Arcade Facts@universalfacts.bsky.social

A magazine ad for "TypeTunes: Chase the Music!", a 2005 rhythm game in which players had to type the lyrics to J-pop songs along to the beat. TypeTunes would end up being the last arcade game to be released in any capacity under the Universal/Aruze umbrella.
