There's no solution for self-hatred is there? Once you've been in therapy, taken medication, exercised, lost weight, spent time out in the sun and all that, your options run out. Nobody wants to tell you "Yeah, you're fucked" but that's how it is, and how it will forever be.

New Chase Bliss guitar arrived. Regrettably Bad Mood is an absolute stonker. Lost way too much time to Relay mode, the beat repeater/delay combo that simply plays back the input signal a predetermined amount of times--that's all it does! But it's amazing!

I mean I love sound-on-sound looping, Frippertronics and all that, and this is a clever way of adding a little order to that in a pedal that is otherwise all about being messy and spontaneous. Building up to a full loop then disassembling it block by block, or letting it play in perpetuity. Lovely.

We've fallen down the League of Legends Worlds Championship Finale opening ceremonies hole. No interest in the game but Jesus, the pageantry. Virtual bands, dragons flying around the arena, full orchestras, incredible special effects--stuff I've never seen anywhere else.

The apparent rise in beginner hobbyists positioning themselves as experts by recycling the same beginner's tips they've already seen on the Internet is something that should--somehow--be studied.

As an addendum to my posts about the school system/teaching my son to read, his literacy test scores came back this week placing him in the top 1% in the country--as high a score as is possible. His take-home folder reveals this week his class is trying to learn the word "but".

According to my Fitbit, and also the few pictures taken of me during that time, I lost a load of weight mid-pandemic and I don't even remember. Like, I remember walking a lot, and my meds fucking with my head, but I don't remember losing weight at all.

Trying to get a clear view of Mount Rushmore from the car park without actually going in was an oddly authentic experience. The kids kept chanting "Heads heads heads!" As I circled past toll gates, peeking through trees. (American Truck Simulator)

The DLC hasn't hit Eastern USA or any of the states I've visited. It's still cool to see the ATS versions of Devil's Tower, the Hollywood sign or Sequoia National Park, to be cruising and randomly run into them, like they're part of the country's history and not simply dropped there by a developer.

With Rose Tinted Spectrum slowly glomping through the CITV archives there's only so much time to put out withering retrospectives on the period children's TV he hasn't reached yet. I'd never do it, but the prospect of drunkenly ripping into Kapatoo, Alfonso Bonzo and Watt On Earth has its appeal.

Respond to a distress beacon on Planet Xylodon, a world lush with some of the most beautiful (and strange) plant life ever seen by humankind. Escape from Planet Xylodon comes to Walkabout Mini Golf on Thursday, October 8th!

One of the great things about American Truck Simulator is seeing signs for something weird, following those signs *to* something weird, then looking up the weird thing and discovering it is in fact, a real weird thing in the weird real world.

In the Summer of 2025 I was so disillusioned with my Kindergartner son's inability to recognise and recite the alphabet in its entirety that I took it upon myself to--with the assistance of a few inexpensive books--teach him to read. Today, he's reading The Boxcar Children.

I don't expect teachers to be able to replicate one-on-one tuition in the classroom, but I have zero training, spent perhaps fifteen minutes a day on tuition, using textbooks and young-readers that are widely available and which were, crucially, aimed at teaching entire classrooms.

My kids often come home talking about the YouTube videos or movies they watched at school. Their education has been largely gamified and automated using tablets and Chromebooks. There's something very wrong here.

At school, three weeks or so into first grade, the class is covering '--ck' words and teaching pupils to recognise the word 'friend'. The software replacing teacher-pupil interactions is having children match words: "Can you find the word 'out' among 'otu' 'tou' and 'out'?"

I'm proud of him for learning to read, but at the same time it's hard not to think of this level of automated education as either underestimating swathes of young students or a deliberate effort to under-educate.

Meta sent me a guide about what to do if your Threads posts "aren't working" and is this just how things are? Is this how everyone sees the world? If you're not "growing your brand" are you a failure? I just want to type shit and get it out of my system. I don't care about likes or follows.
