2026, everyone

The concept of the American right getting horny for a gender swap of an evil character created by a Scottish woman who famously hates real life gender swapping makes me want to just stare at the horizon until the heat death of the universe.

Please count me among those who support naming an ocean after Trump. Changing the name of the Atlantic Ocean to Stupid Shitstain Treasonous Motherfucker Ocean seems eminently reasonable to me.

When they get back in power, Democrats need to go all-in on higher education. We need a campaign of reinvestment in public universities across the country that makes the Morrill Land-Grant Act look like nothing by comparison *and* a GI Bill of Rights-style program of tuition grants.

Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/kQdKbY1

I've been saying it, and I'll keep saying it: Trump's goal is to weaken the United States. He is an existential threat.

Joni Askola@joniaskola.bsky.social

Completely unhinged and beyond pathetic. This directly undermines US national interests and core principles (ones it used to have), leaving the US weaker and more isolated. No enemy has done more to dismantle US alliances than Trump

It became necessary to destroy women's sports to save them.

Jess Piper@piperformissouri.bsky.social

The Heritage Foundation asserts that women never needed sports in the first place. To prove that Title IX has become a tool of “feminist social engineering.” To demonstrate that women don’t need sports and that “clubs, intramurals, and exercise classes” is enough. open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...

The manner in which fascist leaders like Putin, Trump, and Netanyahu have weaponized mass global migration in the past couple of decades is both horrific and fascinating. Hitler and Stalin would both be very proud.

Netanyahu was at the White House this week, and the surge of Morroccon immigrants happened shortly after the visit, he is implicated along with Trump in the attack on our NATO ally Spain. Spain told those who stormed Ceuta in hopes of toppling the government to get the hell out. #FAIL.

'Anthropic described the project as “our effort to disruptively scan all the world’s books” in an internal memo, which noted “we do not want it to be known that we are pursuing this project”.'

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.

Bingo.

Key thing to understand about "remigration" is that it doesn't mean "send immigrants home." He's an immigrant, Peter Thiel is an immigrant, etc. It's not even a white nationalism project, it's a trans-Atlantic white continentalism project, nations themselves aren't important, only race matters.

Years ago, I was exploring the Smithsonian Museum of American History, and in anteroom there was a wonderful exhibit about George Washington's plantation and the enslaved men and women who lived and worked there. There were maps showing the locations of slave quarters as well as letters and ledgers.

It was a smaller space and I was alone geeking out on the sources and the stories they told when a white couple came in with their several children. Mom & Dad were initially unclear about what was on display in this room and quickly surveyed the contents of the exhibit. Dad asked "What is all this?"

The Mom pronounced, disappointedly, "Aw, this is just a bunch of ni**er sh*t! We don't need to see this sh*t." And she herded the family back out the way they had come entirely uncontaminated by the knowledge the room contained. That's what Trump's signs mean. "Just a bunch of ni**er sh*t."

Given their sudden, uncontrolled growth, I propose that we call them "Data Cancers."

As an alternative to this chaos, the dual-hatted Secretary of State/National Security Advisor could manage up and re-institute an actual national security policy process. And take away POTUS’s phone.

Bill Grueskin@bgrueskin.bsky.social

One of the issues with Trump’s kneejerk, say-whatever-pops-into-his-head policies —like his 20% Hormuz toll — is that his aides spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to execute his whims, and then 24 hours later he says never mind, and then they all move on to his next idiotic idea.

Can someone please explain to me the pricing logic of airlines? How is it that if I take United 926 to Frankfurt I pay $1,746 but if I take the exact same flight and then also take another flight to another destination it costs only $945 -- almost half the price?!

These findings *should* prompt universities to invest in more support for student mothers (and address academia's anti-mom cultural biases). But I'm guessing they'll instead be used to shame women who don't "make good choices"--ie, who don't wait to have kids until they finish their degrees.
