Across the US, workers are souring on AI. The tech industry has insisted that AI would make workers’ lives easier and more productive, that the more people understood and used AI, the more they would like it. Something closer to the opposite has happened.

Even if this were true (it isn't), it's wild to me that centrists like Stancil and Jeff Fecke are all simultaneously coming out to pour cold water on the single actually bipartisan political issue that aligns the working class against the oligarchy. Almost like they ultimately support the latter.

The reality is this: progressives have an affective hatred of data centers because they don’t like the companies associated with them. Because of that they feel obligated to argue, absurdly, that the extremely substantial tax revenues from data centers are somehow poisoned or undesirable.

This is largely correct, we've been conditioned by the clintonite wing to believe that any kind of actual progress is impossible unless it's a stripped down public/private partnership that achieves basically nothing other than securing a corrupt contract to appease republicans.

My not-so-hot take is that what Mamdani is doing *IS* incrementalism, and the bar is so deeply in hell that a politician just doing *anything* good consistently is a total anomaly for people. And I think for now that is good and fine, because it is restoring people’s faith that better is possible.

JARVIS, I need a metaphor for the state of the US. No no that's too on the nose.

The peeling of the blue paint comes just days after the pool started turning green due to the return of algae—something Trump had criticized his predecessors for failing to address.
