Big news! My book, #RunLikeaGirl, is launching in Canada & US on September 23. It’s about having the courage to run your own race-even when it’s hard. Trying to live up to the expectations of others is no way to live or make a difference. Let’s do this!🏃‍♀️💪 🏃‍♀️💪 🏃‍♀️💪 🏃‍♀️💪 #WomenLeadingonClimate

From Lula’s victory speech. Hard to argue. 🇧🇷 “We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. We cannot have monstrously large corporations earning millions and billions, paying no taxes to this country and trying to steer our election results.”

It would be nice if news headlines/reports stopped saying “BC Conservatives win first majority in a century” when the BC Liberals and Socreds won plenty of majorities and were, you know, conservative.

Thrilled to receive @VeloCanadaBikes.bsky.social’s Lifetime Achievement Award! Cycling is about getting around in healthier, cleaner, and often faster, ways! And it’s way more fun! 🙏💚🚴‍♀️

Yes. I have spoken to the toad's lawyer. Is a sentence I have typed to my editor. But when a country has the rights of nature in its constitution? Yes. Your toad DOES get a lawyer. And an ombudsperson! www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/...

nationalgeographic.comThis Toad Is Fighting for Survival—and It Has a LawyerEcuador’s constitution guarantees species existential rights—but what happens when those rights are pitted against human needs?

Absolutely chilling about how authoritarian states like Uganda’s brutal dictatorship use surveillance technology. And appalling that software from Canadian company Magnet Forensics was used to extract cloud data from a Ugandan lawyer & novelist who was repeatedly detained & tortured.

Dear LA friends: If you’re in town later today, come to a discussion at UCLA between me and Client Earth Americas CEO @Danielle Lackey about gender, leadership & climate action, moderated by UCLA’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Nurit Katz! I promise it will be honest, inspiring and funny! 💪

Could we please stop framing climate action as a left/right issue. It’s just a big issue that all politicians need to grapple with. Both a massive cost/risk & huge economic opportunity with clean energy transition (with big risk of stranded fossil fuel assets).

One major glitch in this piece: Carbon pricing is a conservative policy especially when revenue neutral as it uses the market to reward behaviour. It was George Schultz, a Republican, who championed it (supported by Brian Mulroney). I spent a lot of time discussing it with both.

We need to get smarter in Canada about linking affordability and climate action. Make EVs, heat pumps and solar more accessible and reduce Canadians reliance on expensive oil and gas to power their cars and heat & cool their homes. Save Cdns money, tackle climate, foster choice, promote innovation!

I’m all for saving money. But this all comes from the wrong place: deferring infrastructure investments is a quick way to kick the can down the road. In 20 years these politicians won’t be here but you’re failing pipes. Roads and community centres will be. And that’s when the bills will be due 1/

Time for Canada/provinces to make this possible here too. We should be allowed to have nice things that lower bills and emissions!
