Last week, an English person asked me if we 'have Halloween in Ireland' This is the most offensive thing that anyone has ever said.

This post is a "never not re-post" for me. It's an amazing story about making decisions for the right reason, defying the odds and making the world a better place for being in it.

This one's maybe a little on the ling side, but trust me, it's worth it. I've cried reading it multiple times. (1/3)

This is great news & a huge relief that they're not losing funding.

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

If you take this excellent course, you are then eligible to join the Pro-Am Genies network, which has a free monthly online CPD session.

To counter AI, an illustrator in Balbriggan offers to draw posters for barter. Lauren Fernandes noticed menus and flyers all over with the same sterile look, and thought: what if she could help out small businesses which can't afford creative work, usually?

According to one calculator, I'm going to be €266 better off next year. That's great. Once again single & self-employed people are the poor relations in an Irish budget.

Employed person: Wahay, it's Sunday! Fun times. Self-employed person: I've had a few hours off, it's ok to go back to writing that blog post now. Surely it's nearly Monday already.

For anyone interested I'm giving an online course on researching American Civil War servicemen with an Irish focus, covering things like pension files. The first class is on 14 October at 5pm Central. More details and sign up info at the link below! celticjunction.org/product/amer...

Insert rant here about how difficult Irish institutions make it to deal with executor issues. Small insurance rebate issued as cheque to "reps of late XX" after being told it would go back electronically. Bank won't lodge cheque because account is in actual names.
