I changed my Display Name to OhioCiderGuy because I realized I haven't had a single interaction on this platform about growing apples or making cider. So if you want to talk apples/cider in any context or capacity, the people in my real life will tell you I can't STFU about either.

Ok new frustration, my day job is managing industrial food logistics and supply chain stuff Which requires a lot of emails and things shipping on time Very Recently , I’ll email someone “did this ship today like you said it would a few weeks ago?” And I get what is clearly an automated response

In a professional capacity, the biggest impact AI has had is that it slows me down and makes everything more annoying bc I have to deal with my coworkers bad use of it Verbose emails, interrupting meetings to ask the AI, AI note takers who are wrong, breaking spreadsheets, people repeating it to me

I promise it was NOT intentional that I put three Kennedys in a row in the guards category

I hear almost daily someone decrying 'doomerism' and claiming it's a widely held opinion. But is it? Seems more like a punching bag of an idea signifying vague others not to be taken seriously to me.

Family and I went to the Finger Lakes last week, and while it is still too far away from Central Ohio (about a 6.5 hr drive,) the area is fantastic. A magical place where apples and grapes grow like weeds on hillsides with spectacular views...

I should point out, my "grow like weeds" comment was a bit facetious. I'm sure the farmers up there put a great deal of effort into their crops. I just meant, the climate and growing conditions for apples and grapes in the FL felt to me more ideal than where I live.

I can no longer in good conscience support Talarico. Disgusting sentiment.

Nazi appeaser doesn't approve of calling people Nazis...

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

Mike refused to explain to Georgia voters why he allows neo-Nazi propaganda to be disseminated from his own home. From his own home. This man wants to take charge over our national affairs when he can't even manage what's happening under his own roof.

Ezra Klein @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social did the country 2 big favors this week His talk with the Nvidia CEO revealed a shallow, glib, defensive man (and thus a technology) nowhere near safe maturity His talk with Abdul El-Sayed revealed a humane, responsive, and morally rich man ready for leadership

My story of abuse by this messed up system we now all struggle under: my family is looking at paying ~$14,000 this year for healthcare PREmiums & it's a high-deductible plan. Our budget'll be tight, but the alternative is risking our savings. Not right in wealthy America. So, worthwhile thread...

It doesn't get more working class than this. I got laid off this week. If you were around when I ran in 2024, you know it happened then, too. This time is different. In 2024, I had a choice: the campaign or my job. This time the choice wasn’t mine, and it wasn't political. 🧵

IOW, the government could raise my taxes $10,000 a year, and if they implemented federally-covered healthcare for all, I'd still come out ahead.

Behold, Speaker Matt Huffman's palpable enthusiasm to discuss his $600 million handout to the Cleveland Browns weeks before Election Day.

The Rooster@rooster.info

Oh hell yes: Ohio House Democrats want to pay for Vivek Ramaswamy's gas tax holiday nonsense by repatriating the $600 million handout to the Cleveland Browns.

This week I visited some of the old wild #appletrees I've scavenged years past in the woods and on the neighbors' property (with permission.) Shocked to discover, almost all are dead, or nearing so. Haven't heard about the loss of naturalized #apples in the midwest, but it's def happening locally.

None of Metallica’s presale tickets for Cleveland are less than $445 (before fees). I guess public school teachers don’t get to go. To all of the finance bros & nepo babies out there, y’all have fun at the show! To Metallica & Ticketmaster & the owners of Huntington bank field, 🖕🏻.

I keep thinking about Felix' description of left-liberals (wtf that means) engaging in climate "millenarianism" (aka alarmism) and wondering if he's the one who in fact doesn't understand the nature of the threat posed by planetary climate disruption.

I get the feeling people on here never see my posts because of the way their Feeds are set up. Just an observation. But also, what a dumb way to structure a social media site.

So frustrating. This cycle trans rights are unlikely to be decisive. So it's a golden opportunity to try the strategy some of us have spent years begging for: call out the press and your opponents for centering divisiveness, and say politicians have no business legislating such local/family issues.
