Semi-regular reminder that we don’t really know who owns Bluesky and some techbroligarch could boot you at any time. You could also be silenced en masse right before an election. Do you have a “social media ‘go’ bag”?

@reckless.bsky.social One of the most annoying things about the reporting in many of the Flock stories was the lazy journalism of reprinting the Flock talking points uttered by Sheriff's or PIOs without asking the follow-up, "please cite local examples of this."

Remarkable that some people fondly miss Googles RSS reader app, already gone for over a decade. Remarkable because they captured the market, wiped out all competition (they deserved it, the products were awful) and then shut their own product down, leaving a toxic bomb crater in its place.

@cranz.bsky.social wish you were still on the Vergecast this week. Fox buying Roku is bad news for me. I have so much Roku remote muscle memory that I may need to unlearn. Thinking hardest about AppleTV hardware, but I can hear you saying, "The Shield is awesome."

Semi-regular reminder: You don’t really know who owns Bluesky and some techbroligarch could boot you at any time. And now some techbro is apparently in charge. You could also be silenced en masse right before an election. Do you have “social media ‘go’ bag”?

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

I see that ICE now has a verified presence on Bluesky. See ya elsewhere (I'm not hard to find). Remember, you don’t really know who owns Bluesky and some techbroligarch could boot you at any time. You could also be silenced en masse right before an election. Do you have “social media ‘go’ bag”?

Remember when there used to be like 10 New Year's Day Bowl Games because ABC, NBC, and CBS all had rights and you had to channel hop? (And the Orange Bowl was played at it's rightful time at night.)

Friendly reminder on this arbitrary Gregorian boundary event that you don’t really know who owns Bluesky and that some techbroligarch could boot you at any time. Do you have “social media ‘go’ bag”?

This is something we all can help with. Help publishers connect their feeds to readers. Help develop their independence from big tech.

@reutersinstitute.bsky.social 👋 I just had to manually go find your RSS feed (it's /rss.xml off your home domain). Could you please add it to the HTML head of your homepage so others can find it? Here's why that's important: werd.io/why-rss-matt...

Once again, telling me that I need to pay attention to the encroaching fascism—and doing it FROM YOUR SUBSTACK—is telling me you’re not willing to do the work you’re asking everyone else to do.

#UCF in all black on a sunny Florida afternoon again. 🤦‍♂️ Let’s hope they don’t melt in the second half again like before. #ChargeOn #GKCO

Very sad to see what’s happening at Indiana. The school has decided it wanted to muzzle its student newspaper to only print fluffy campus life stories in special sections. When they pushed back, the school cut all print funding and fired their staff director www.idsnews.com/article/2025...

Welcome to the USA of 2025, where condemning genocide is deemed antisemitism and can get you deported, but building concentration camps and calling bankers ‘Shylocks’ doesn’t get condemned by the news media at all.
