The recent production of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream was wonderfully imaginative and critically acclaimed. The performances of the actors was full of energy. Such a shame the actors felt this hostility in Chichester.

"This hatred, it’s like a cancer. It spreads because people will always say, ‘Oh, it’s just the illegals.’ It’s not. “From what I experienced, it was anyone who was remotely different, different creed, different colour, different sexuality.” www.theargus.co.uk/news/2665180...

Hello! I’m Izabela Mayne, West Sussex County Councillor for the Witterings. I’ve been meaning to establish a presence here for a while. I’ll be using this account to share local news, council updates and information that may be useful to residents across the division. If you’re local, do say hello!

Chichester’s MP @jessbrownfullermp.bsky.social was pleased that West Sussex County Council agreed to meet with her to discuss flood preparedness. This marks a welcome change from last winter, when the previous Conservative administration declined her request www.sussexexpress.co.uk/your-world/p...

The Conservatives have effectively committed to even more unsustainable development. Building homes cannot be at the expense of our environment. We should overhaul the planning system to make our communities more sustainable. These plans would do the opposite. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I really hope the PM is serious about fixing care, and he can show it by getting on with the cross-party talks we started in July. This can’t just be a series of No10 headlines with no real action. I’ll do everything I can to put family carers at the heart of any solution.

Over 31,000 people sat in A&E for more than 12 hours last year, according to data uncovered by the Lib Dems. The Government voted down our plan to end corridor care within a year. Nobody should be left like this. We'll keep pushing until it ends.

#AdultSocialCare Helping people remain independent in their own homes is an essential part of supporting healthier, more fulfilling lives. It’s encouraging to see so many of our residents benefiting from personalised support following illness, injury or surgery. www.westsussex.gov.uk/news/reablem...

Families face another £3.4bn bill for decades of water company neglect. Toothless Ofwat keeps rewarding failure. The Government promised to scrap it. It’s time to follow through and end the blank cheques.

Nearly everyone knows someone with special educational needs or a disability. For too long, they've been let down by a broken system. It's time they got the help they need.

From pensioners left bedbound to life savings being spent on dementia care, our system better resembles the 1920s than the 2020s. Andy Burnham must work with local government and the NHS to finally end the social care crisis.

Ed Davey has cared for his mother, his grandmother, and now his son. As cross-party talks on social care begin, he argues it can be fixed by finally putting the millions of unpaid family carers at the heart of any deal.

It’s not just the capacity to supply clean water, but also to process foul drainage from new housing developments, as we know too well in Chichester.

Cllr Richard Bates 🔶@cllrbates.bsky.social

Great to see at today’s PMQs @alisonebennett.bsky.social asking Starmer if he will require water utilities to confirm they have capacity before new housing developments get planning approval. 👏

The Amos Review into maternity services has been published today. We're calling on the government to implement its recommendations in full, invest in safe staffing, and ensure women are listened to. Families deserve safe, compassionate maternity care wherever they live.

The carousel of Prime Ministers keeps turning, but nothing really changes. This time must be different. Real change – transforming our broken politics so we can fix our country.
