After over 40 years, I’m no longer affiliated to any political party in Scotland or elsewhere, but will vote for any party that acts in Scotland’s best interests. Still firmly passionate about Scottish independence. i🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱: Will the SNP turn its new campaign into an actionable independence strategy? The latest campaign is a start, but Scotland still needs a credible strategy for achieving independence rather than repeatedly seeking Westminster's permission. #Independence

If England decide to vote to go back into EU then I suggest that England Wales and Scotland go back in as independent countries. NI will get in through Irish unification. England should not be allowed to negotiate our assets so they can get back in

GB News and the Farage brigade appear mildly outraged that EU flags outnumbered the Union Jacks at the Proms. Clearly they’d have preferred a sea of their own manky boxer shorts instead.

It shouldn’t have come to this. Why are the Scottish Greens having to force a vote on a moratorium when John Swinney and the SNP could have acted themselves? If there are genuine concerns about hyperscale data centres putting pressure on Scotland’s resources why wait to be forced into action?

I think Mr Swinney should take the SNP members proposed plans seriously and at least give them a fair hearing. If he doesn’t support them, it would be helpful to explain why. We all want a credible way forward for indy, especially when there doesn’t appear to be an alternative plan on the table.

The gist of Andy Burnham's Thursday position on a Scottish independence referendum (as opposed to his Wednesday position) seems to be that there are more important governmental issues to be getting on with. For him maybe. The UK gov will always be able to say this. It is not a respectable answer.

No matter the mandate of the Scottish People at the ballot box, to no more to make a ruling on their constitutional future. The autocratic UK Government of the day whatever the Unionist Party in power will ignore it. The sooner the SNP recognise that and formulate a course of action the better.

We need a campaign (and GE29 could provide that focus if the SNP/Greens/Yes choose it). It is obvious WM are not interested in discussing a framework to another indyref & consequently the SNP et al has to turn up the dial; existing “do minimal” strategies aren’t working.

BREAKING: The Prime Minister has responded to the First Minister of Scotland, telling him independence and another referendum remain 'off limits' In the letter, Andy Burnham stresses that 'there is no consensus' for a referendum in Scotland or Northern Ireland

He must impose a moratorium on new data centres and establish a national planning framework before allowing further applications to proceed. Projects of this have national implications for Scotland's energy, water, infrastructure and environment. They cannot be left to local councils to decide.

Why is this even necessary? Why are SNP activists having to band together just to force a debate on indy at their own party conference? When did debating independence become something the membership has to fight for? What on earth is going on with the SNP leadership and Executive Committee?

The National@scotnational.bsky.social

EXCLUSIVE: SNP activists are banding together in a bid to force a debate on the party’s independence strategy at the upcoming conference

The SNP stood on manifestos promising IndyRef2. They’ve now published a draft Independence Bill, while Westminster has already rejected a request for another referendum. All SNP members are asking for is a proper debate about what happens next beyond simply asking Westminster for a referendum.

Andy Burnham's first visit to Northern Ireland was a political and public relations disaster. He has isolated the entire Nationalist community and created a bone of contention with the Irish Government.

The underlying criticism of the SNP is that after many years in government it has become somewhat detached from its original grassroots and independence-focused purpose. And, above all, it requires a renewed sense of purpose beyond managing a devolved Scottish Parliament on behalf of Westminster.

Burnham is just the latest of a line of British con men ushered into office by a corrupt British establishment and media. He’s spent weeks throwing around minuscule crumbs to generate positive headlines while in reality it’s just Starmer 2.

So the ultra-rich will continue to own our politics, and our country. Disappointing to say the least. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

WTF ? If I had an unhealthy suspicious mind, I’d be straight down to the bookies asking if anyone had a hefty wager on the final score being 5–4. Purely out of curiosity, of course. 😏

"Burnham commits to Starmer’s EU red lines for first time in blow to rejoin hopes." 😡😡😡 So by a "bolder" relationship, he probably just means more attempts at "cherry picking"🤦🏻‍♂️ What a total waste of time – and bound to fail. #RejoinEU 🇬🇧🇪🇺

Since 2014: The Better Together lies have been exposed. The broken promises have been laid bare. “The Vow” has proved to be nothing more than empty words. Scotland must now have a second referendum on independence. Otherwise, Westminster’s version of democracy is built on lies.

Since 2014, the UK has had 7 Prime Ministers. Three of them have denied Scotland the democratic right to hold a second independence referendum. This can’t go on. Something needs to change. We need a different approach and a clear plan to make things happen. 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱’𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱’𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲.

There’s very little doubt that BiS, along with many other groups, are doing a sterling job of keeping the independence movement moving forward. The sticking point is the need for that same level of commitment and action from the Scottish Government. That’s something I really hope we see change.

It’s common knowledge why Scotland needs independence. Since 2014, the SNP and Scottish Greens have stood for Holyrood elections 3 times on a manifesto pledge of independence and deliver indyref2. So where’s the pressure? What’s the plan? The independence movement needs more than the status quo.
