That JJ Abrams is not a very good writer and that I don't think he understands continuity all that well. There were things that should have been done in Force Awakens that didn't happen, no explanation for the Luke going no contact and Finn's joining of the resistance being the main ones.

Question: What is the overarching theme of the Sequel Trilogy's story? #StarWars #SequelTrilogy

No generational trauma my ass. I read this book.

Girl Melanie@immaculateice.bsky.social

Emmanuel Acho really say there and said because he's Nigerian, he doesn't have generational trauma and that's why he's qualified to preach to Black people. I'd probably spit on that nigga if I ever saw him. I hate him.

They pick their worst, they get disappointed and like a spoiled brat want to blame their fuck up on anyone else that's not them. Maybe if they weren't so busy talking shit to black voters they would listen to us and pick some winners.

The way people STILL have knives out for this woman is nothing more than naked misogynoir.

"I personally don’t feel like the excitement necessarily exists within the Black community." I realize Texans get to decide their senator. But since when do we need to be "excited" about the Dem nominee? I have to vote for Tina Kotek for governor. Believe me, I'm not excited about it.

This is what Americans apparently wanted: This is what people voted for. Ultimately the people are to blame. They campaigned on exactly this, no one can pretend this was a surprise. This is a deeply sick nation.

We need people with experience and not just vibes. If we are ever going to start getting ourselves out of this mess, we need to get beyond voting on people based on them saying things that make you feel good and get behind people that can get things done.

Don't let Jeffries become speaker...

We’re all going to have to get out and mount sustained protests to prevent the election from being overturned, I bet. And the people demanding we don’t do this and give up are going to be the left, who will continue to insist “voting can’t work” while they help fascists try to make voting not work

#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three Dem. appointees, #SCOTUS has *granted* the Trump administration’s request to freeze a district court injunction that had blocked the mail-in ballots executive order. But Trump’s EO remains blocked by a different injunction in a different case—at least for now:

it was a big mistake to adopt a political culture of coddling the electorate and reserving criticism only for the politicians themselves

Y'all still haven't learned your lesson with polls, have you? apnews.com/article/4516...

apnews.comPoll: Support for 'Medicare-for-all' fluctuates with detailsWASHINGTON (AP) — Americans like the idea of "Medicare-for-all," but support flips to disapproval if it would result in higher taxes or longer waits for care.
Dean Preston@deanpreston.bsky.social

“House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced his opposition to Medicare for All on the same day a CBS News poll found 90 percent of Democratic voters support the idea—and 72 hours after a Yale University study showed the program would save 114,000 American lives and $1 trillion every year.”

Yeah, no one said that. You can’t just create an argument that you can refute while not listening to everyone who kept saying that it was being blown out of proportion because the bigots seized on it as an anti-DEI story and evidence of the scandal of black intellectualism. They were clear about it.

let's be real: plagiarism scandals in academia happen all the time (not because academics plagiarize a lot, but just because of how many millions of faculty there are around the world) and it is never general-public news unless the culprit is a member of a minority.

In recent memory it's Expedition 33. I liked it at first but by the time I got to the twist, I cared less and less about it and it annoys me how parrying is starting to seep into everything as a mechanic. So you get all kinds of weird timings and stuff.

No hate, no dogpiling, just curious. For me, it's Skyrim. Don't know why, considering it should be exactly my kind of game, but it just didn't click for me.

This thread is a huge reason why I distrust those on the left that refuse to blame voters for electing Trump. Many would rather blame Democrats for "running a bad campaign" or whatever ahistorical nonsense if it keeps them from having to reckon that voters can be awful with their votes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. AES's supporters online are going to be one of his worst enemies because instead of reflecting on what is being said, people are attacking the messenger when the message isn't that unreasonable. I guarantee you that AES will ditch Piker pretty quickly.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

I mean, my goodness. Was I the only one who was raised that you are the company you keep? So odd that this is a subject of debate. If you’re running for office and trying to gain votes, ditch this dude and move on.

I often think about my parents and what they owned. My dad drove his vehicles until they basically couldn't go anymore and basically never went on vacations out of state. I also knew nothing of their finances. They could have been borrowing money for all I know.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

I'm not trying to target anyone individually; don't go harass this person. But when people talk about not being able to get ahead, they often cite stuff like this. I just don't think it represents the death of the American Dream; they're prototypical middle-upper class concerns.

So many things are put into a weird perspective now that I'm older with a son. Things that I never thought about when I was a kid, I think about now, and my son basically doesn't think at all about. Life sounds so much better when you don't worry about how the vacation you went on was paid for.

Spot on assessment. These are not the kind of people I trust to stand up for me when the shit hits the fan. These are the kind of people that will make excuses or stay silent when something goes down but they want to play like they are revolutionaries.

Accepting (and promoting) ageism as part of a fight against fascism strikes me as productive as promoting any group-hatred and scapegoating. It’s lazy, hateful, and requires not caring about facts and reality. Not a great look.
