Remember when Elon Musk went on Rogan and was like, “You’ll be able to walk into a party and tell Grok to roast someone in the most inappropriate, hilarious way ever?”

This dipshit nepo baby, who will fall for any half-baked, New Age, pseudoscience fuckery, is out here calling other people stupid. You know what Arab culture hasn’t produced? YOU, you leathery bag of formaldehyde and eugenics. You’re the sad, desiccated husk of Eastern American aristocracy.

Look, I’m not winning Father of the Year anytime soon, but even I’ve never done this. And if I did you couldn’t waterboard that information out of me.

A few weeks ago he told his crowds that he could get up there and “say the stupiest things and you’d clap.” Today he proved that he was right.

Wtf is this headline? He wasn’t “denied entry to Game 3.” He refused to sit in the free suite they offered him.

Weird. It’s like he didn’t even want to watch the actual game!

It’s funny that after national pundits tried to turn the Duren contract negotiations into a soap opera and even tried to make Tobias Harris signing with SA a catastrophe the first game showed a more mundane reality: -Bad 3pt shooting? Pistons lose -Good 3pt shooting? Pistons essentially unbeatable

Honestly, my biggest concern with the Pistons is that Cade is still pretty careless with the ball. Been a thing for a while now. Not sure it’s gonna get better. (Seems like it’s somehow not all that important to him, which is weird.)

I made the mistake of watching Kasie Hunt and a panel of pundits discuss Abdul El-Sayed and his response to Tommy Teepell the other night. You’ll all be shocked to know there was unanimous agreement that the real story was AES’s off-putting tone and his “failure to pivot to kitchen table issues.”

All these fucking Bootstrap Republicans refuse to see the conflict between lamenting the “welfare queens” in blue cities while saying, “This politician got my vote because they gave me money.” Welfare? Bad. “Federal appropriations?” That’s just good governance, man.

Healy also explicitly says if they used more straightforward language, they could endanger "having sources who trust us as sort of a nonpartisan news organization." My guess is that "sources" here literally just means "Trump taking Maggie Haberman's calls." 🤮

It’s funny to me how often corporate types use your name at the beginning or the end of a sentence as they discover in real time that what they’re saying makes no sense.

This is a remarkable interview. @markjacob.bsky.social not only speaks truth directly to the NYT, but he flips the script and gets Patrick Healy to admit the Times intentionally softens its language on Trump because they are afraid of being cut off by sources. Feels like a pretty big admission!

Finally, it’s clear in the interview that the NYT still thinks this administration is operating under the rules of regular order. That the Trump admin’s deceit is simply bigger in volume rather than fundamentally different in kind.

Healy also indicates it is CW inside the Times that this intentional softening of language helps to maintain their credibility with right-wingers, which…. I mean… That’s delusional. Is it not delusional? It seems delusional.

It’s counterintuitive, but this concept - that John Roberts is better at fooling people who went to law school than he is at fooling people who didn’t - seems pretty spot on.

@jamellebouie.net is correct that at this point a “race to the bottom” is the best way forward. But some of the alternatives @stevevladeck.bsky.social has proposed do have merit, if only to give Democrats a plausible way to say, “Look, we’ve tried everything else” before they get to expansion.

Sending Thomas & Co to red states would just confirm for them that Red State America is the only “real America.” And sending them to blue cities would simply confirm for them that only Great White Culture can rescue our country. They’d return even more partisan than they left.

Anyway… I’m not an expert. I’m just a guy. But other than giving SCOTUS a one year time out, I don’t personally find these alternatives to court expansion persuasive.

Some of the other proposals aren’t really worth discussing. An “A3IG” that has enforcement power over everyone in the Judicial Branch *except* SCOTUS justices? I mean… cool? But a bureaucrat with no jurisdiction over John Roberts will not scare John Roberts into reforming his court.

Sending justices to “ride circuit” will only affirm the existing biases the conservative ones hold. (Also, travel isn’t hard anymore. Unless Congress mandates that SCOTUS has to travel by stagecoach.) But sending Brett Kavanaugh to Dallas will only make him say, “My people!” and get drunk all day.

2) Zeroing out the budget for the “Marble Palace.” I don’t see how this will make the conservative justices any less partisan in the future, but Sam Alito is the world’s pettiest bitch so I am for meeting petty with petty.

Other than that, I don’t see how any of the other alternatives actually get the court to reform itself. Even if Congress went back to “re-passing” laws that SCOTUS threw out, the Roberts Court would simply throw them out all over again. You can’t beat bad-faith tactics with good-faith ones.

1) Using Congresses statutory authority to regulate the court’s calendar. I kind of love the idea of giving SCOTUS a one-year “time out” to sit on the corner and think about what they have done. Pass a law saying the court’s “year” starts at midnight on 1/1 and runs for exactly one minute.

When you’re the president, they just let you do it. You can grab ‘em by the borders.
