NEW: I spoke with current and former EA employees to understand how the latest layoff round played out and the realities of daily life at the U.S. publisher.
The short version? EA is controlled by an executive class that "cannot fail, only be failed." Workers, then, will always pay the price.
"I don't want to work at this place anymore:" EA workers decry mismanagement and corporate greed after mass layoffs
Current and former EA employees paint a bleak picture of daily life at one of the video game industry's most prominent publishers
I always ask anti-Ukraine people, "What if Russia did this to the US?". They think it can't happen here. Opening door?:
The Russian presidential envoy proposed a 70-mile undersea rail and cargo tunnel connecting Chukotka, Russia, to Alaska beneath the Bering Strait.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly.
Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.
I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.
the biggest presidential scandal in history but the political media largely acts as if it's not happening. hasan piker has received more mainstream political media coverage over the last 6 months than trump's connections with epstein has
NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report.
Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.
Very saddened by the death of Walter Koenig. Obviously everyone is talking about Chekov, but I wanna shout out his work on Babylon 5. TOS actors were a joke in the '90s, but Koenig was flawless as The Villain Who Thinks He's The Hero and the smiling face of your friendly neighbourhood fascist.
Inflation eating up worker pay.
Household debt and student loan defaults at a record high.
8 million people have lost healthcare.
5 million people have lost food stamps — including 2 million children.
Gas prices skyrocketing.
Trump says, "Pretend I'm on the ballot."
Please do.
Prediction markets have flourished under the Trump administration’s light-touch approach to regulation, and the White House has made efforts to stop state governments from regulating the industry: arstechnica.visitlink.me/lNuQse
Just finished the #Battletech novel "Outfoxed" by Brian Young ( @swankmotron.com ), and like the rest of the Fox Patrol Series, its really good, if a bit short. I love that the series has some vibes of an action-drama TVshow, but staying true to BT's grittier feel

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections.

Miller deserves everything that's coming. He's afraid of state prosecutors because a presidential pardon only covers federal offenses; and beyond prison, there's also future congressional investigations and civil lawsuits.

OBAMA: "Trump is focused on enriching himself & his family/friends. A Venezuelan billionaire wanted a pardon, so he paid a Trump lawyers $50 million — and lo & behold! The pardon falls out of the sky... We’ve never seen a president straight-up grifting on your dime like this."
My immediate concern here is that the Trump administration will back this likely effort to attempt a coup, rhetorically if not materially.
It would hardly be the first shameful thing the United States has down to our neighbors to the south, but it would be a very shameful thing indeed.
Flávio Bolsonaro refuses to concede after losing Brazil's presidential runoff to Lula.
"It is impossible to acknowledge the election results. We will ask for the elections to be annulled."
Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet.
Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well.
Horrific.

This is incredibly important - mass protests are good and necessary but very few take the logical next steps needed to affect real change - we need to learn to channel our rage into organising, so we are strong and united enough to enforce our demands
Hooray!
See that, 'Murica? We don't have to be racist jerkfaces! We don't have to support a rapist and traitor to the good of this country and the world in general!
Look how it's done!
