Here is an early prototype of something I've been screwing around with. Since I'm setting up a whole fleet of mounted video cameras that I don't want to have to fiddle with to adjust settings, why not manage them all from a single dashboard!? :D

The major complicated work is now !! DONE !! I can parse the full way through a Crovus drive image into every volume Apple DOS 3.3, Apple ProDOS, and UCSD Pascal volumes can all be listed now Screen shots don't show it, but this is parsing out metadata and sector data for every file in all of em!

FML I've been working on Corvus Constellation on the Apple II for the past month or so. I've been casually hunting for the IBM PC software for months though, zero luck. Every forum post is people asking for it, no replies. THE GODDAMN SOFTWARE WAS IN MY DESK. archive.org/details/corv...

So story: A year ago, I purchased a large Corvus hardware lot that also came with manuals. I entirely FORGOT that the software boxes HAD DISKS INSIDE OF THEM. And it was all 100% IBM PC, literally the stuff I was trying to hunt online. Like WTF, its just been there the entire time !?!?

I opened the desk the other day to look at the docs, and saw the disks, and this was the day after buying a new-to-me 5.25in floppy drive from @repcwa.bsky.social over the weekend. Tonight I cleaned/refurbed the drive and tested it. Working GREAT! And went straight into dumping these disks.

Part of my literal job is to fly out to physical game studios to rescue and recover historical materials that might be endangered and put them in a permanent archive. @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social is a 501(c)3 publicly funded to do that, my DMs are open, and I'm free for the next couple weeks...

Do I still "work" on Cospix? Nope. Is PHP/TLS fully patched today, and do the instances auto-patch daily!? Of course. I'll keep this archive alive. I've migrated it from one hosting setup to another transparently for years, despite "not working on it" ;)

I think I'm my fourth?ish? iteration of the directory tree walking code for the Corvus "emulator" !!BUT!! this is the version I'm going with! Screen shot is just the file names, but the code under it? FINALLY something clean, manageable, and expandable.

This is such a crap situation, and has been a problem ever since Content-ID was introduced. There is no real repercussions for these automated systems that file false DMCA flags on YouTube.

I haven't heard back from the people claiming copyright on the NES music of Level 1 of Super Mario Bros. 2 USA. Of course... I'm sure the tactic is to ignore these disputes until the time out, where they lose that individual claim.

I'm gonna get this uploaded into the Corvus codebase I'm working on. BUT HOLYSHIT THIS TOOK FAR TOO LONG TO GET WORKING. Fully reverse engineered the decryption algorithm used for NAMES Next up, Decryption algo for passwords. And then both Encryption algos. With 1 done, the other 3 are simple!

womp womp okay, something is still wrong w/ the decryption function, but its pretty damn close! well, at least the "name" decryption password decryption is totally broken LMFAO

It don't look like much, but the volume label decryption logic is now integrated into the main Corvus disk image utility! This means that the DRIVE.VOLUME file is now fully being processed, and all volume auto-discovery works. TONS of "magic number" hacks are now removed from the code :D

Corvus wrote custom encryption/decryption routines in p-code, a byte code machine format sort of like Java but from the 1980s instead. Two days of work, and FINALLY cracked the code! (literally) I already knew the encrypted/decrypted values, but needed to know how to do the processing.

ABSOLUTE DUMBEST SHIT EVER, they encrypt JUST the partition volume label in the partition table, but then have it in plain text within the partition volume itself LMFAO WALP, the file with the machine code was located, extracted the functions, and converted byte code into C.

#PRGE Day-Two haul! Yup, Lots of cheap CD-i games :D Also, LOOK AT THAT SIMCITY BOX ART Oh, and there is something special about Tetris+DrMario too ;)

Day-One haul from @retrogamingexpo.bsky.social today Got some really neat items to help fill in certain areas of my collection! Love to see quality Big Box PC at a reasonable price here.

So no joke, this game just "appeared" in my steam library years ago. No idea when/how My brother and I were bored at pdxlan, looked at my library and was like "wtf is this" and played it, knowing nothing about it Absolutely AMAZING experience, one of my FREAGGIN all time fav games, easily!

Y’all, I loved Pony Island years ago. It’s free right now thru Oct 12. You have zero reason not to go get this weird game that was doing weird deconstrutivist indie desktop mystery horror before it was cool #gamedev store.steampowered.com/app/405640

And yes, the plan is to have full read/write access for UCSD Pascal, DOS 3.3, and ProDOS all in a single code base. Additionally, since the work is already done for each, add an automated detection so it can FUSE mount raw single disk images too.

This is still a "work in progress" - but I do have a successful FUSE driver with full mounting, directory listing, meta data reporting, and file reading for ProDOS from a base Corvus disk image. It presents each volume as a folder, with that folder's contents being from its contents.

Screen shots are from a separate utility, debugging and inspecting the disk image itself, right now specifically on getting UCSD Pascal figured out. After PRGE, the plan is to get the FUSE driver and this tool merged into a single entity. Single binary used for inspecting or mounting!

Some details so far: The drive uses a custom partitioning scheme called "volumes" which can be easily added/removed on-the-fly. Volume disk image formats can be UCSD Pascal, DOS 3.3, or ProDOS from the Apple IIe (TONS more from other platforms!) I'm currently building tools for Apple IIe formats

Having every single data structure and possible value laid out in documentation feels like absolutely -CHEATING- for re-implementing all the Corvus Constellation storage stuff. Zero guessing. Zero "How does it figure out X value?" ITS ALL RIGHT HERE

I've spent WAY TOO DAMN MUCH TIME trying to find information on setting the switches on the Corvus OmniNet OmniDrive. Sharing here publicly first... But I'll also be documenting this in a future YouTube video (don't expect it soon tho, I got a few in the pipeline before then)

I was going to complain that this super in-depth document doesn't contain information about the on-disk format of the partition table and file systems themselves.... BUT I JUST FOUND THAT TOO

Most important notes for me personally: 1) With this, I can probably push my MFM emulator from 16MB to 45MB! :D 2) All of the weird "guessing" for the bullshit sector math is FINALLY STARTING TO ALIGN and make sense :D

8x more Apple II NICs (Apple Tunics !?!?) just arrived in the mail. Am I starting to hoard the entire world's supply!?!? We shall see ;) In the mean time, AMAZING progress this past few days on reverse engineering the NAS!

I could create an entire hour long video on what it took for me to actually get these new cameras in my hand for my studio... A combination of shitty FedEx and Canon USA corporate policies tried to ensure I'd never actually get these!? Ya, never ordering online again LMFAO

An experimental FUSE driver that is opening a MFM HDD image from the mid-1980s, reading the Corvus OmniNet OmniDrive partition table, exposing each partition as a folder, and then contents of those partitions within them. This has been a royal pain in the ass for countless reasons LMFAO

Here is Top Gear 2, running the way it always should have. Same race, original vs SA-1, taking turns. Watch what happens every time it swaps. The SA-1 chip is frying here!! But it holds 60 FPS, tunnels and mountains included.

Hey @bsky.app Fuck you and your fucking broken age verification system This is the middle of Downtown Seattle Do you REALLY think I magically teleported 3000 miles in just a few minutes !?!?!? DO BETTER
