I white boarded the major scenes of my tm4m romance and finally the truth was obvious - I needed to dump a bunch of scenes and conflicts in order for it to work. Phew! I feel a lot lighter now. Time to finish the first draft with confidence! #queerRomanceWriter

I've decided to get back to the query trenches with my YA LGBTQIA++ mystery novel. In some ways, it's a shitty hard time to pitch a queer book. And also, someone out there needs to see a nonbinary hero of their own story. And so, I will persist. #authors #queerAuthors #queerYA

I'm in my escape pod writing my queer romance to get a break from the spiritual eviceration I go through every day. #writersandauthors I don't care what the publishers want right now. I'm going to write queer happiness and angst and discovery and love and frustration and everything else we do

Fellow authors, I love you, and I know it feels like we don’t have a choice, but B&N and Am*zon both scheduled sales this week to preempt Independent Bookstore Day, a hugely vital source of income for indie bookstores. Please don’t promote their sales; please promote your local indie this week.

If you can wait til 4/26 to buy your books, please do! That’s Indie Bookstore Day. Put it in your calendars. And ignore any conglomerate book sale you might see tomorrow, if you can. Support your indies!

Tomorrow, a certain online mega-retailer launches a book sale, just days before Indie Bookstore Day on 4/26. This is no coincidence; Bookstore Day is one of the largest revenue drivers for indies. Indies need our support to thrive & build community spaces for all...mega-retailers do not.

1. This morning, California Governor said he was in "complete alignment" with anti-LGBTQ+ hate-influencer Charlie Kirk of TPUSA on transgender sports. He also conceded on trans inmates and gender affirming care for youth. It's so much worse than being reported. Subscribe to support my journalism.

I've been struggling to find the right narrative voice for a novel I'm re-engaging with. I thought for sure first person was the way to go. Yesterday I decided to go back to 3rd and suddenly the damn burst and I couldn't get to sleep with all the ideas. #writingcommunity #authorlife

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record. They run them bc people react to them the most. If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change. It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

This folk-horror novel by @lesliejandersonwriter has me looking at everyday things in a different light - and reminds me of the inescapable fear I had as a child when I'd finish barn chores and have to walk back to the house in the dark with the even darker dark of the forest behind me. Shudder.

Fellow trans men and trans masc people. You may or may not have a uterus or other reproductive parts anymore but you know what it's like to be marginalized, bullied and dismissed as a female in this society. Follow the lead of black women, the brave, badass engines of democracy. Vote BLUE!

First line of my YA coming-of-age murder mystery.. EJ Temple pedaled hard, wishing they could ride away from their anger and frustration. <italics>She could at least try, EJ thought, tears welling up. It’s like I’m not important enough to even attempt using my pronouns.</italics> #writingcommunity
