Vaguely costume-type thing (jacket belonged to my great-grandfather; nearly 70 years old and nary a thread out of place because we used to live in a society) for BITS this Weds, 5/6 at 7:30pm at Theatre of NOTE. Optional audience dress-up theme: monochrome. Address 'n' tix link in post above.

When Bluesky creates accidental poetry (or something) out of the arrangement in your feed of posts from two friends who are independently posting a lot of agreeable nonsense today.

if you don’t think you can campaign on abolishing this agency and prosecuting the people involved - if you don’t think you’re able to make that case using this video and other like it - get the fuck out of politics

A narrative is taking hold that LAPD shot her because she was out after curfew. But the curfew was only imposed just last night (Tues, 6/10), and check the timestamp on this. They're not shooting unarmed people for being out after curfew. They're shooting people because they want to shoot people.

a woman just trying to get home gets shot

Not, to be clear, that shooting people for being out after curfew excuses anything! But it's also not what's happening. A few days ago a friend saw the LAPD break a woman's leg with a baton in broad daylight. They are itching to hurt people.

To the National Guard: You are not alone. If you are given an order that violates the Constitution or asks you to act unlawfully against citizens, call 877-447-4487. There is support there! The GI Rights Hotline. Don't do something you can't live with.

I accidentally closed it when it suggested Taxi Driver was adapted into Taxi, so I searched again, and it just kept saying different things

I particularly enjoy the assertion that 1976-1985 and 1979-1985 (against all odds, the actual years those shows ran!) are not "a similar timeframe" despite "some overlap." LLMs cannot do math and in fact do not know what "numbers" are.

I don't even particularly enjoy John Waters movies but I now suddenly think a John Waters Batman movie is a thing that should exist. "Batman: Seduction of the Innocent"!

I love how in every live action Batman thing, Alfred never looks like he does in the comics, because a comic-accurate Alfred would look like a John Waters pervert.

The White House Correspondents’ Association said it fired host Amber Ruffin so it can instead focus the dinner on celebrating the First Amendment. Which apparently can be done best by preventing a gay black woman from speaking.

More to the point, art is the most visible part of most perspectives, whether ideological or identity-based. The duty of artists representing that which people want eliminated is simply to continue producing art.

Critical analysis of English literature may not be the most important antifascist praxis, but it *is* a kind of antifascist praxis. Literature is where we store and keep and guard everything they hate.

My friend Sarah works at the Burbank Public Library and suggested that the library make a sign for the teen section encouraging 16 and 17 year olds to pre-register to vote. And they did! If you know anybody who works in a library anywhere, please pass on this suggestion.

Using government to actually help people - and not backing down or compromising as soon as you encounter the least bit of resistance - is wildly popular on the rare occasions it happens. Will this be the election year that the majority of Democrats finally learns this? (Spoiler: probably not.)

If you’re going to be gathering with people over the holidays, you can potentially save your loved ones a lot of pain and grief by doing a rapid test first and staying away if you test positive or feel at all unwell. Missing out is no fun but being the cause of someone else’s illness would be worse!

Also, approximately 40% of COVID infections are asymptomatic. So just the fact that you feel fine doesn't mean you're not spreading COVID. (Granted, this article is from 2021, but there doesn't seem to be any updated info since then given the cratering in testing.) www.newsweek.com/forty-percen...
